Honestly? When I am sick - especially feverish - I eat so little that I don't regulate what I am eating. I eat what I want because most everything sounds unappetizing. If I am getting calories, I consider it a win.

I believe it's "Feed A Cold" and "Starve A Fever" but it's a myth.

Hi Sunshine, thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas. Yes, I plan to make better choices today, but must admit so far I have only mustered eating wholegrain bread spread with raw honey (again..). I have however managed to stay away from the tempting liquorice twists.
Right now I crave both sugar and salt and water, but fever is down and I am feeling a bit better.
I have promised to make tacos today, and will add some extra cloves of garlic, cumin and oregano as prescribed by you.
Sugar...well sugar can suppress the immune system and sugar can increase the amount of food that you eat. Also any rise in blood sugar can cause inflammation and sugar zap's energy and can even cause an overgrowth of unfriendly bacteria in the body...probably not a good idea to eat the sugary foods especially when ill or feverish.
Craving salt is a sign that your adrenal glands that regulate sleep and the hormones you have.. and your body's response to stress, need attention! If you crave sweets, it could be a sign that you consume too much salt. When you eat too much salt it will boost the production insulin, the hormone that tells the body to store fat. The more insulin you have, the more fat is stored and then you gain more weight.
Eat Blueberrries...Similar to tea, blueberries have powerful antioxidants, stay hydrated...veggie soup, clear broth or chicken soup. Steamed green beans have an antiseptic quality...Garlic is a natural antibiotic
Lemon, Ginger, Cinnamon, Cumin, Cayenne Pepper and Onions, Oregano and Oregano oil, are also good when ill.

Well, I am not sure that is how the saying goes, and I certainly have no plans of starving myself regardless. Still, it is very clear I find it hard make healthy choices when my body is screaming for sugar and salt.
Any good ideas on what to eat when all I want to do is eat candy and stay in bed all day? (something that's effortless to prepare, because right now I can't be bothered.)
Is it true that some foods (for instance sugars) are inflammatory, and others anti-inflammatory? Would it not make more sense for my body to crave the anti-inflammatory ones when fighting infection then?
