Took a look at the makeover recipe & question the amount of sugar in it. Even most of my non-diet recipes don't call for 2 cups of sugar in similar receipes. That's quite a bit.

If one wanted to, I suppose craisins could be substituted for the raisins w/o too much of a calorie change. Will have to give this recipe a try, but not with 2 cups of sugar.

I love using applesauce like this. I'll have to give that recipe a try, sounds yummy!

I found this recipe I absolutely adored, for amazing pumpkin muffins. So I put it into the Spark recipe calculator and was horrified to find it was 244 calories each. But they were all harvesty-spicy goodness, and I wanted to find a fix. The supremely simple swap one-to-one of applesauce for the oil and raisins for the nuts dropped a whopping ONE HUNDRED calories out of each muffin. Unbelievable! I love the results, a fluffier, tasty muffin that's absolutely reasonable on a morning when oatmeal just doesn't appeal. Here's the revision in all it's tasty glory.
