Just like all the other replies have stated, I would definitely get it checked out by a doctor. When I was in 8th grade I fell pretty hard on my ankle. The doctor kept telling me it was sprained since nothing came up on the X-ray. It wasn't until I had an MRI three years later that we found a fracture in my ankle. I am now a senior in college and I still have some issues with mine. Be patient with and kind to your ankle. Ice it throughout the day but for no longer than 15 minutes at a time. Motrin is also great to use because it is an anti-inflammatory. Unfortunately, your ankle may always feel a little funky but it doesn't mean that you won't be able to get back to running on it. With a little TLC you should be good as new.
If you have not seen a doctor make sure you do not rotate the ankle in a circular motion as this will only harm the injury more. You could have a fracture or may have chipped a bone. If you havent seen a doctor see a foot doctor they can take an xray for under $100.00. Meantime stay off the foot and above all dont jog until you are cleared by a physcian.

I sprained my ankle over two years ago... and I still have issues with it. It takes much longer than 4 weeks to heal (at least 6!) and every time you try to work out with it, you're dragging that time out. What's happening is you've severely injured yourself... and it takes time to heal.
You need to see a doctor about proper treatment... you need to stay off of it, and get proper medical advice!
I sprained my ankle nearly two years ago, and it took a full year before I felt comfortable running on it again. Even then, it would swell afterwards. (It has since stopped doing this.) I regret not going to a doctor or getting a referral to a physical therapist to speed up the recovery.
A friend of mine had a very similar-looking sprain shortly after I had mine, and he was back on the treadmill in less than two months. He did see a PT and had lots of good things to say about the treatment.
You must not put weight on it . Do you have crutches ? Keeping your foot iced helps too. So sorry. It just takes time to heal.

I am so frustrated with my sprained ankle. It has been 4 weeks but it still hurts bad and in the mornings, I find it hard to even step on the floor. What is happening? I love to jog but now, I can't jog or even walk right.
