Hi - that is a good question and I experienced the same.
So when the team leader stopped of the team I joined I agreed to become the new leader. Now I would like to invite you to come over and join with me to Foodservice Professionals team page and join.
I hope to build this team up and be a place of encouragement for any one who has / is working in that field -- even if you don't think you are professional -- you really are.

So come on over and join us Foodservice Professionals

Contact the existing leader and ask to be names co-leader. I think you can send mail to SP asking to be named co-leader.

I think it is by them volunteering to be the leader but I'm not sure

I would be interested to know how leaders are chosen/selected/appointed!

Why is it that every time I want to join a new team the leaders have stopped leading the teams.
I want to be apart of a good community of sparkers but none of the teams I really want to be apart of have leaders emoticon
