Congrats on your first 5k! I've run a bunch of races, and I've had a blast! I started with a 5k, and worked my way up to a half marathon in 2011. I'm in the process of training for another half marathon on April 28th of this year. I am by no means a fast runner, but I do it because I enjoy it.

The best advice I can give is to remind yourself that you aren't racing the other runners, but more that you're running for your own personal best.

I just signed up for a few this year. I am not a runner by any means, but these look like fun. Have a great time.

Best wishes to you! I think you'll find after you do one, you are HOOKED! Started 5k's in 2003 and still enjoy running! Stay healthy.

You are gonna do great. Since you're training for it, the 5K will be a lead pipe cinch.

Spark On!

Im really excited for my first 5k- granted I run on trails and on the treadmill but not in this format! two years ago i signed up for this same race and got very injured a month before the race- i was so devasted because i was training and couldnt run for a couple months- but now Im okay and just sighned up this morning no excuses! got a plan that im gana follow and hopefully from just training and having motivation like this ill lose weight too! :) Has anyone else done runs in a public setting- did you like it? did you go on to do more and further distances? any tips? :) THanks !
