I do this on occasion. I always feel like a meal eaten out counts as 2 meals. I am often not hungry at dinner time so I skip it. I find myself hungry by bedtime and will eat a yogurt or piece of fruit before bed.

while floirdata might be one end of the spectrum, there is an opposite end. my hunger cues are just screwed up sometimes. for me, the more meals i skip, the more likely i am to skip more meals and the less likely i am to pick up on my hunger cues. when i can intellectually realize that i haven't had enough calories or that i have skipped meals, i make myself eat. when i didn't do this i would get to the point where the only hunger cue i recognized was shaking and lightheaded about to pass out [at which point i'd binge to make up for what i hadn't eaten and then feel after thanksgiving stuffed after]. since i started making myself eat when i know i should be eating even if i'm not quite hungry that problem has gone away. it's easier to make better choices overall when i'm not shoveling food in as fast as i can.

Thank you all for the replies. I was thinking a banana and yogurt or soft boiled egg before bed, but didn't cause I felt yucky. Here I am now at 4am and I'm really hungry. Lesson learned.

If it were me, and the choice is going to bed with nothing else to eat or eating, then I would eat something - even just a small banana and some yoghurt.

For me it would depend. half a cheeseburger and fries are things anyone can eat on program. Even if it was 2000 calories, I think a little fruit or a yogurt would be a good idea. When you wake up it might really hard to get back on program if it has been 16-18 hours since you ate. Not a full meal, just a small serving.

My short answer would be NO, the longer version...we have been trained from an early age to think we must eat 3 meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Why? If breakfast and lunch are enough, why eat dinner too? The reality is that along with 3 meals there is the endless snacking so in fact we are eating continuously all day long. If you eat enough to keep you going at breakfast, why keep eating lunch and dinner. If you are not hungry, don't eat.

I often find myself wandering into the kitchen, looking into the fridge and cupboards for things to eat, not because I am hungry but because it is lunch time. I hate how conditioned we have all become.

I went out for lunch today and ate off program. It was planned. That was 8 hrs ago and I still feel full. (had half cheeseburger and fries) Should I eat something light for dinner? I don't want to eat at all really but kinda wonder if I should.
