I'll second what A suggested. That burning pain can be caused by quite a few different things, including mechanical problems that can be avoided or minimized by the right kind of shoes or inserts, but there's no simple way to figure out what you need without a good examination. New Balance shoes off the shelf can be good if all you really need is a deep and/or wide toe box, but you could also need a special arch support fitted to your individual foot. There are also some metabolic/medical conditions other than diabetes which can cause neuropathic pain, and if that's what's going on, treating the underlying condition could mean you don't need a specially fitted shoe or support. So, the best place to start is by talking to your doctor so you can identify the cause of the problem.

Have you talked with your doctor about the burning sensation of your feet when you try to exercise ? If not, you should start there. Find out why your feet are burning and get treatment before you decide what shoes you need. Your doctor may refer to your a podiatrist. You may need special inserts or even custom shoes depending on what's going on with your feet.
Did your doctor give you the all clear to exercise ? if you find it difficult to stand for long periods of time, then consider doing non weight bearing types of exercise. Swimming or water aerobics would be one good example. being in the water takes the weight off your feet and joints. Another possible activity would be a recumbent cycle. that's the cycle where you peddle in a reclined position. If you don't keep the resistance too high, cycling might be okay.
But, talk to your doctor first. get their okay before doing anything. And see what they recommend for shoes.

Does anyone have a recommendation? It seems wherever I go I must take an extra pair of shoes with me due to the fact my feet start burning. I have tried New Balance and Ryka but still have foot pain. I am not diabetic so the pain is not caused by that.
