I totally support the mission of GSUSA (and am a lifer ;)) but between the fact that troops only get $0.50/box or so, their use of palm oil (google it), and this whole 'nutrifusion' crap, I just give $10-20 to the girls as a donation when I see a cookie stand. If the girls are old enough, I explain my reasons.
I would say the marketers of these items "get it" very well - they know it will sell, even if it is a big fat lie... with only enough "truth" to the claims to keep them out of the law courts.
It makes me mad.
For example I saw an ad on tv the other day for some fast-food-restaurant's attempt at a "healthy" smoothie type product - "Loaded with THE TASTE of real fruit" was the marketing pitch. What the.... I don't even... ~scratching head~ do you suppose the beverage requires actual fruit to be included, or does it just have to TASTE like it did?
It pays off to be a cynical consumer.

I feel the same about WW products...and most "diet" foods. They just don't get it do they.
