I was 54 when I joined SparkPeople and 56 when I came back and started my Spark Program, starting with Stage One. This is a one day at a time program, but if you do the SparkPeople Program Steps, it really does work. I am terribly average, it's the SP program that is extraordinary.
I found logging my foods in the Nutrition Tracker helped me to lose 90 lbs in 16 months! I started at 210 and went to 120. I am 5'1.5" short, lol.
I hung clothing that was too small on my closet door and every time I would get discouraged I would try them on. Week by week they started fitting! That kept me motivated.
Welcome aboard, we really are all in the same boat! Sometimes we can sail right along but sometimes we have to be rowing like crazy!
You can make it happen! SparkPeople really does work!
I spent most of my 59 years in Obesityville - that is one town I never want to visit ever again! Slim City is way more fun!!

Hi everyone - I joined SparkPeople on August 8th, 2011 and have been on my teams various threads and boards but I never checked out the main message boards until now. I wanted to stop by and say hello and meet new friends too.
I am vegan and a power walker in the over 50 catagory. I also do Callanetics and Yoga. Walking I do 7 days a week and three each of the other workouts. So far I have lost 14.2 pounds since joining SparkPeople on August 8th. I was just looking over my blogs and such and am really surprised to see how many changes I have made in such a short time. Living in Canada's Capital and having a great time this time. Just recently I have been able to go off blood-pressure meds and am doing great. I think part of it is that this time my focus is different. It is being Vegan in the most delicious and appealing ways that I can. I found I love the walks after supper, clearning my head from the day's stuff and I just can't see me changing back for anything in the world.
