I've encouraged patients as a pharmacist to live healthier, and came here to practice what I preach. I can say that I am always proud of my patients who work hard toward their goals, and I am just as proud of myself for caring enough to try and change. Keep up the good work - remember how it felt to hear that encouragement! When I have those moments I make up colorful signs/reminders around the house so if I'm having a bad day I don't have to go digging for that memory - it will definitely help keep a positive attitude!

I have my next doctor's appt in December. I am hoping to hear good news about my cholesterol since I have lost a few pounds (not enough yet) and I have been exercising more. I seem to be on a plateau and need to work harder to lose the next 10 pounds.
Fantastic. Listen to Richard Johnson M.D. on YouTube talk about "THE SUGAR FIX". He gives so much information. Robert Lustig M.D. has the documentary "THE SKINNY ON OBESITY". IT is certainly helpful.

You are in the right place the more you participate and learn the more you start loosing. Don't look at it as a DIET, do something small every day to change your life to a healthy living. Be consistent not matter how small the effort to change is. Good luck!!!!!!!
Good for you! Your post really gives me motivation. I have just started sparkspeople because my weight would not budge. I gained 35lbs from my last 2 pregnancies and I have been really feeling down in the dumps about it lately. I'm hoping this site gives me that motivation to finally lose the weight.

Congratulations!!!!! You are in your way. When I went to my doctor I took the last month report from the Nutrition tracker. He was blown away. In fact he say I was better than him because he will not get up at 5:00 am to exercise....LOL!!!!

I saw my doctor today for my usual checkup but instead of feeling my usual worthless way, today I felt really good. Her usual loose weight and quit smoking speach was delivered but not like before. Instead of the loose weight lecture, I got " You have lost 5 pounds since last month, what have you been doing? ". I had to tell her about Sparkspeople and how it makes me feel. She has been trying to get me out of the slump that I was in for years and couldn't and in a matter of weeks not only have I lost weight but my whole attitude has changed. I guess what I'm trying to say is thank all of you for your help and support-it has made a big difference in my life.
