I wonder if your goal date might be too close. 1200-1550 is a little low, for your weight. When I started, I was 211, and got 1700-2000! (And I lost.)

Yes, my ticker is correct. Sp did put me in the lower calorie range 1200 to 1550
I walk between 30 & 45 minutes daily at about 3.5 mph

One week isn't enough to determine a pattern. Not losing some weeks is actually perfectly normal! Some weeks you will gain, some you will lose. 10 days is normal. Ever noticed how around your period you tend to gain weight? I'd bet hormones played more of a role than anything.

Additionally, if you've been undereating, eating a bit more can slow or stall your weight temporarily as your body adjusts to the new intake. You have a range for a reason. Use it! You also need to make sure you're meeting your goals. You're not eating 1200-1300... you're eating 1100-1200, and that is definitely not going to be healthy for you long term.

Yes my ticker is correct. When I started I weighed 238 and 1200-1500 is what sp put me at. When I stay within 1200-1300 I lose 2 pounds a week exactly. I started Jan 1. I did up my calories for like a week one week to around 1500 but I stopped losing. There were 10 days in a row I stayed at the same weight. Once I went back to the 1200-1300 I started losing again. Do you think I should try more than 1500 and see if I lose weight on that?

LILYDAYDREAM , is the weight on your ticker correct? If so, you're actually probably eating too LITTLE! 1200 is very little, especially if you're active at all. What usually happens if you're over 200 lbs and in that calorie range, you've set a goal that's too aggressive. SP's algorithms aren't sophisticated, and rather than prevent goals that are too aggressive, they just plop you in the minimum range, You could probably still lose weight on a lot more. What do you mean by "not losing as well"? 1-2 lbs is a safe weight loss goal for you, and you can likely lose around 2 lbs, but anything around there is still great.

I looked at your nutrition tracker, and in fact, it seems like you are definitely undereating. Some days, you're not even making your minimum of 1200 calories, which means that you're short-changing your body's nutritional needs!

The closer you get to your weight loss goal, in fact you tend to need to eat MORE! That's because your margins for error are lower, and you're not creating huge deficits anymore.

What worries me is I am pretty sure I am at the lowest calorie range (1200-1550) already. So I'm worried I will hit a certain point and not be able to lose anymore. Especially since I already stay at the 1200-1300 point because when I ate at 1500-1550 I wasn't losing as well.

Sparkpeople recommends that every 10-15 pounds you review and save your weight loss settings. That will trigger any needed changes. You don't need to necessarily change anything, but saving that page will do the trick. Make sure you review fitness settings afterwards, sometimes it'll reset if you reset your diet options.

I don't have a set process but watched how the weight was coming off. As I lost weight if I stalled for a while (eating at my calorie goal) I would reduce the goal by 50 or 100 calories. When I hit my goal weight I gradually added back in 50 calories/day and stuck there for several weeks.
Personally I think this is going to be very individual.

I don't use the program calories as I find that they are too low. Right now SP says I should be eating between about 1500 and 1750; I"m at 1900 and staying steady.

I doubt there is any sort of "rule" for this! In fact, I think the newer Tracking system which responds to how much exercise you do, resets its every time you exercise...so it rather "floats".

For myself, I use the older 'fixed' system of a single goal (since I don't get that much of a calorie deficit from exercising). Personally, I wouldn't bother until my weight had changed by 5% or more.... I don't like chasing numbers; and there's a range for a reason: I'm not going to hit a fixed number every day!

You could certainly play around with the weight/calorie calculator and see how much of a change it takes to affect your calorie level... You can always change it back to your current weight. Have fun with it!!

Does anyone know how often we are suppose to reset our calorie tracking? I thought as we lose weight the calories you consume should drop also.
