To be able to buy clothes in the normal misses department instead of the womens or having to find a whole different store. Also...be able to fit into the clothes that are frequently left in the clearance section (M and 8-10 are generally the sizes left where I'm at). All in all, should make clothes shopping cheaper!
Be able to occasionally take a bath and get fully under water in my bathtub without it triggering the overflow drain.
Maintain my low cholesterol, blood pressure, and fasting blood sugar levels as I age (how I managed to have them in the first place has to be genetics...)
1) acid reflux from hell (didn't realize my weight was causing it) 2) lower my triglycerides (I've ignored it for over a year now) 3) liver issues 4) go from a size G bra back to a D (I would even settle for a DD) 5) more energy to play with my daughter 6) I want to feel sexy again 7) tired of wearing extra large clothes 8) sad but true but my feet got fat so I don't fit in my cool ass

Get weight offf of neck and upper shoulders so I can stand up straighter, look nice in clothes, be able to just throw something on and it will fit, be able to do more physical things, no self condemnation.

To be happy with "me" again! I was always thin until my thyroid was removed... it's been hard and I know I will win this battle!
I am turning 49 yrs. old in May...I have three kids and I want to ride bikes with them this summer and go hiking with them and keep up. Last week went roller skating with them for the first time in 2 years. And we had a blast! That really motivated me to make this happen!
I just want to feel healthy and motivated! My energy level is sooooo low when I don't work out. My life spirals out of control when I am not moving so each day I try to keep moving... one step at a time! :)

These are the main reasons:
1) Be healthier. High blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and other heart issues in general run in my family. I can only fight genetics so much, but a healthier lifestyle will make things sooo much easier on me.
2) Have an easier time shopping. I hate shopping anyway, but it's that much more difficult when the things you like don't fit. xD
3) I'm a referee for roller derby--less weight on skates makes it easier to go faster.

To enjoy life and everything it can offer. I have several family members and friends who are obese and are limited to what they can do. One day it finally dawned on me that if I didn't stop my bad habits, I could end up like them. That and for vanity reasons. Going down in pants sizes is definetly a good feeling

I definitely want the health benefits everyone has listed, longer life span, fitting into better size clothes, for my kids, to love my body, and generally being healthier. However, I also have some "fun" reasons for wanting to lose weight. 1.) Fit into a normal bathtub. (No more showers ~ Yay!!) 2.) Fit on a roller coaster 3.) Fit into the seat of a new Chevy Spark or Nissan Versa (need a new car and love these 2) 4.) Bathing suit!! 5.) Stylish clothes (What I WANT to wear, not just what will fit.) 6.) Sit comfortably in a movie theater seat. 7.) Not be worried if I cant do something, just because of my weight.

this may sound vain... really vain... but my main reason to start was because I was tired of seeing myself and the way I was. I literally felt like no one could like me due to the blob that I was. I was tired of never getting to put on the cute little skirt or two-piece bikini, of worrying if I'm going to have to start going into the special 'big people' store to buy clothes. Tired of being worried I'd break something or be too big for something. The health issues were secondary. I was too aware of how much my weight was preventing me from really enjoying life to worry about how it might make it end sooner.
1. Not die. 2. Side benefit of #1, live longer to annoy (and cherish) my hubby and kiddo. 3. Be a positive example to my kid. 4. Feel better/more energy. 5. Be able to shop anywhere (sorry this one is vain). 6. Ride all the cool rides at the amusement park without worrying I'll be too big.

The main reason I wanted to lose weight was that I did not want to die... due to overweight..
For me losing weight is far down the list. I would rather have 100% function of body, mind, and spirit with no evidence of disease-- what health means to me. Losing weight, getting fit, and eating clean are just small parts of that.

1. To get rid of this damn acid reflux. 2) So I can enjoy the things I want to do. 3) So I can look at myself in the mirror and smile. 4) Most importantly, so my two girls, 4 and 7, will see what healthy looks like, and grow up healthy themselves!
I'm tired of feeling ugly and self-conscious. I just want to be comfortable in my own skin and feel beautiful. There are also a few things I’d like to do with my life, but my weight holds me back every time.

All of those are terrific reasons -- and each one is enough in itself.
I have a lot of reasons (including all of yours), but another big one was that being overweight was a big issue for me mentally. I was constantly self-conscious about it, and continually felt that I was "less than" because of my weight. Of course, in reality, losing the weight did NOT make me a better person - and I wasn't really "less than" to begin with, that was just my perception. But finally losing the weight and keeping it off did help to take all that NOISE out of my head so that I have energy for more important things.

So I am making a list of reasons why I want to lose this weight and reach a healthy weight. I would love to see what your driving reasons are. 1. Avoid genetic predisposition for obesity and diabetes 2. Make living a longer life a possibility 3. Avoid sleep apnea (family predisposition) 4. Fit into more clothes 5. Be more for for running and hiking 6. Feel better
