although I do exercise at home & outdoors, I also go to the gym several times each week.

there are less distractions when you go some place for a single purpose - no ringing phone; no clothes that need to come out of the dryer; no dogs that want to play; etc.

I like some of the classes at the gym. Sure, I do some of those moves on my own. But honestly, how many of us will push ourselves as hard for as many minutes as we will in an organized class?

the gym obviously has equipment that I don't have access to at home. And I love, love, love the Precor stretch trainer.

It gets me out of the house, it helps me unwind from a long day at work, I can exercise without any distractions, it has the equipment I need, it motivates me and helps me become even more fit!

It gets me out the house, it's amazing exercise: everything i could possibly need all in one place. Looking at how amazing other people look is serious motivation for me.

For me it is kinda like that bar "Cheers"....I have been going so long, everyone knows my name and it feels like my home away from home.

I normally trail run but have been in the gym for the last fortnight because of injury. I like that I can zone out and not have to worry about safety or it getting dark. I chuck on the iod and away I go.

I love the gym because it's a place where I can vent out any frustration I have built up and work on my body. It's like a stress reliever for me, but with repeat trips you slowly see yourself getting stronger or toner, or fitter ... Whichever your results fall under. Seeing results is also a reason I like to go.

... Yes, I may be asking for personal motivational reasons. emoticon
