LUVTRANSCENDS,

If you are having issues with hunger and are currently taking metformin for your diabetes, I do recommend that you talk with your healthcare provider about this to see if he/she has any other advice for you.

The funny thing is I had eaten breakfast. I ate fruit for a mid morning snack, and lunch. When I walked it was a couple of hours since I last eaten. I also have some blood sugar issues. I guess I am diabetic. I am on Metformin however its more of a reversible insulin resistance at this time if I do the right things so I hate using the words diabetic. I think that has something to do with it as well. Thanks for the encourgagement.

Don't panic !

Is it usual to feel hunger after a walk ? Not at all. What did you eat prior to the walk ? Did you have breakfast this morning ? Did you have lunch ? If you hadn't eaten your last meal for a while, I could see you feeling hungry after a walk.

Do you have a snack ? How about some fresh fruit. It is okay to have a snack when you feel hungry. Snacks should be a part of your day's caloric intake.

Also, hunger might always be hunger. Have you had any water ? some times thirst can manifest itself as hunger. So, if you know you've recently had some food, then maybe you're thirsty. if so, have some water.

Mostly, you really do have to be patient with yourself and your body. Remember, you're trying to change habits learned over a life time. that's not going to happen overnight, a week, a month or even a year. Change takes time. thus the need for patience because there may be days when you lapse back into old behaviors.

That doesn't mean you've done something wrong. No one is perfect. You don't have to be perfect to be healthy. Slow and easy really does win this race. No need to beat on yourself if you do find you have days that aren't as good as others. It happens to us all. The goal is for our positives to outnumber our negatives.

Everything will be fine. Hang in there !

I wasn't sure where to post this and I felt a little panicky about this so I guess I will post it here. I have been being consistent with my goals of eating healthy and working out. There have been a few days where I went a little over my calorie range but I am not too concerned about that because it is healthy foods that I am eating and truth is even if I went 1000 calories over I would still be eating less than what is required to maintain my current weight. Not that I am going to do that but I just realize that 100-200 calories over isnt' really going to hurt me. Anyways even though I know this, my head sometimes wants to mess with me. Like today.......I took a walk for 30 minutes uphill and downhill. It was quite a walk. When I came back I was ravenous. I felt like I binged a little but not too much. I am still within my calorie range for the day but I did exceed it in the "snack" category. I feel like my body was hungry because of the walk but then I feel like I am just using that as an excuse to eat more. I did eat hummus on a whole wheat wrap with lettuce, mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes...so I don't feel bad on one hand. Tell me what you think about this kind of hunger after walking....excuse or body was just hungry.
