Carbs before....Protein and a Carb afterward plus water.......you are tired as your body isn't getting enough fuel to do what you want it to do.....

I know what you mean. When I first started working out in the morning I was done by noon at the latest. It took a few weeks for my body to adjust but it eventually did and I had more energy throughout the day.

I am that way if I run at night...I actually don't have enough energy to run the whole run. I LOVE running in the morning. I love hearing the birds greet the day, I love having no traffic, I love that the sun hasn't made it 1000 degrees yet. I have noticed ever since I started running in the morning, I can't sleep in anymore though. Today, I have a run at night, so I can't run this morning. So, I was planning on sleeping in and resting, and my body woke me up anyway.

Also, just pointing out, if you are a morning person, the energy will eventually come. Your body needs a bit of time to adjust to the extra exercise...but then it gets happy about it.

Making sure you aren't sacrificing sleep for your AM run (did you get at least 8 hours) and make sure you're eating ENOUGH to support your level of exercise. Tap too deeply into your reserves, and you're left on an empty tank!

I know what you mean! I tried to be a morning workout person a while back, & it's just not me. Even now if I have a 5K or something at like 8 a.m. on a weekend, I'll have the initial energy burst for a couple hours after, then I need a nap. I think everyone's clocks are just different.

OK I did it. I met my running partner at 5:30 AM! It's lunch time now and I could put my head on my desk and snore right now. Where's the extra energy you're supposed to get from exercising?
