FITNESSDUDE has it right. Maybe its my age, but I just cant see what any sane person sees in todays crop of "talented singers". I think I heard my folks say that when every young girl went crazy over Frank Sinatra, who in my book is one of the really great balladeers.

FYI : Did you know that Brubeck almost became a cowboy on his parents cattle ranch? He sure made the right choice.

He was not only a wonderful musician but a truly delightful human being as well. He encouraged many, many others and truly was an uplifting influence on the world through his words and actions. I will miss having him in this world.

Two of our local stations have programmed extended tributes to Mr. Brubeck since his passing and it's been a pleasure to hear such a wide range of his work through the days.

I'm a long time jazz drummer - been a fan of Brubeck for many years.
Thankfully it's an industry that lives on through recordings and future generations will hopefully embrace the greatness that was Dave Brubeck.

I remember watching the movie Plesantville and in one scene they used Brubeck's Take Five in the sound track, that was awesome!

Unsquare Dance is another great song. I wish I had half of his talent.

Seriously. If Justin Bieber or Kesha died, everyone would be holding memorials and crying for days.

Truely sad......if a no talent pop star passed today it'd be what everyone would be talking about. This jazz legend dies and there's three people who care. We ARE doomed as a cultured society.

That's the link I posted in my OP :) My personal favorite is Blue Rondo A La Turk though. His Christmas album is my favorite Christmas album too.

Dave Brubeck's "Take Five" is my favorite jazz tune of all-time.

Don't know if there's any jazz fans here, but Dave Brubeck died today at the age of 91. He is one of my favorites of all time.
