As others have already said, it's dangerous for you to be taking diet advice from anyone except your doctors.
Fruits and vegetables are wildly high in potassium. That makes them really good for most people, but potentially very bad for someone with kidney disease. Excess potassium can cause heart failure. If your doctors haven't talked to you about how much potassium you can eat, be sure to have that discussion the next time you see a doctor. You might be able to increase your fruit and veggies and decrease other carbs, but it will probably require changes to your medication or dialysis routine.
All of us need to be a little skeptical about advice from well-meaning friends, but a person with a chronic illness needs to be 100 times more careful.

We're heavy rice eaters also and since rice is a part of your traditions, I would not worry about eliminating it. I'd rather eat rice than fat. Breads can be eliminated. Oats have a lot of carbs also and I won't give them up.

I would argue that your friend is correct. You can certainly get carbs from legumes, fruit, vegetables and whole grains. Avoiding very processed carbs such as white flour and white rice does you no harm.
Most people stay on a diet like that by increasing their animal protein though, and obviously that is something you can't do with kidney disease.
Rice is also very high on the GI scale--it spikes your insulin quite a bit.
You can certainly make brown rice up ahead of time and freeze it in portion sizes, then zap it in the microwave when you need it. You could also just not each much of the rice that is served with a vegetable dish--just leave it on your plate.
It is best to work with your medical team when making changes in carb/fat/protein balance and types of food especially when medical conditions are present. Whole grains like brown rice will be higher in phosphorus than white rice and in some cases that can make a big difference to monthly labs. Talk with your dietitian about what is best for you.

we all need carbs...and carbs are the same coming from any food...but the difference is...what else the food can give you for the same amount of caloreis...carb, protein, fat...

I've read your posts before and I know that you have kidney problems. Diets like Paleo are high protein so consult with your doctor before you start this type of plan.
And yes, we all need carbs!
You don't have to eat the whole thing.

Yes your body needs carbs -- the amount depends on the amount of exercise you do. I would cut back on the rice and pick up other forms of carbs....do a Spark search and find out which one would work for you. As for the bread, whole grain, quinoa etc. are all good breads to eat.
When you follow a specific diet such as the Belly Fat Cure Book, one of the problems is you have to eat exactly as the books specifies or it doesn't really work.
If you could add some more intense walking to your day even half and hour, that would help tremendously.
Do we need pure carbs or not? Pure carbs as in rice or bread.
A friend of mine who does the Paleo diet says that we can get all the carbs we need from fruits and veggies. While The Belly Fat Cure book recommends that we eat 15 grams or less of sugar and 6 servings of carbs, 1 serving being 20 grams of less.
Another problem I have is I'm Asian which means most lunches, dinners or even breakfast sometimes has white rice in most families.
So, should I start cutting down my rice? I really can't afford to cook brown rice separately just for myself. And most breads here has some sugar in it!
