I buy the Whey protein from a local nutrition store that a friend owns and I blend it with frozen fruit, spinach and 3/4 of a cup of milk. It is what I have for breakfast every morning. The spinach sounds gross but it you can't taste it and it gives me some veggies for my diet. Fills me up and gives me energy.

I used to hate protein shakes, but since i have such a hard time eating breakfast (that being the most important meal of the day is not so good lol) However, recently I have for the best meal replacement shake ever!!! I used to drink the special K ones but this new one fills me up, gives me energy and has all of the best nutrients your body could ask for. I agree with the other posters, look for a meal replacement protien and you can always add in other ingredients. Start with your fav flavour either vanilla or chocolate and go from there. You could even go to a health food to get advice. I love ISO PRO chocolate low carb protein powder , but I use it for an afternoon snack to get me thru to dinner.
I do not and will not buy store made shakes or smoothies. Mine are so much better and they don't take long to master. Truthfully you don't need a recipe. just throw in things you like and whirl them up. As far as protein powders, i make sure if it is whey protein that it comes from 100% grass fed cows and it is cold pressed powder. You may have to research on that. I know none of the stuff from GNC applies. I get mine from my chiro. The group is lucky enough to have Jordin Ruben make the powders. You may also want to look at Designs for health-- only catch is a doctor has to give you access.

Protein shakes are really as varied at the day is long. Which one will work best for you depends on entirely too many factors! YOu really just kinda have to try one.
I like the Special K shakes, but a lot of people don't. Right now, I use Designer Whey and make my own. I don't use them as meal replacements, except when I'm really not wanting to eat breakfast but still need fuel (a shake is better than no breakfast at all!)
I think most people would say that getting your own powder and making your own is about the best way to go; that way you have freedom to make it the way you like, and give yourself variety.
Right now I am unable to eat solid foods, I have severe acid reflux and I can't swallow food, the doc told me to get protein shakes, but I'm not sure what kind, does anyone know of any or can recommend some? Thanks!
