I used Bill Phillips, "Body for Life" and "New Lifting Rules..." to teach me how to lift weights about ten years ago. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I took Phillips book to the weight room with me and read how to do the exercise, used his chart, and did it. Soon afterward, I no longer needed the book as I had learned what to do, and how to do it.
The beauty of "Body for Life" and also Spark People, is that you get the guidance you need to figure out your own routine to fit into your budget, lifestyle, fitness level, age, and work schedules. You get a lot of tips from both, and they are flexible and adjustable. Sometimes we can't do a pre-programmed workout due to any of these or other health reasons. For example, I have had a lung infection for the last seven months so jogging is out of the question until I fully recover!

I have The New Rules of Lifting for Women. I love it. It has great full body routine.
I suggest you obtain a copy of the books "Body for Life" or :The New Rules of Lifting for Women" to teach yourself the best way create your own workouts. You can begin with the ones they have laid out then graduate to creating your own to best match your ability, schedule and available assets.

I've been scouring the internet for a workout plan I can just follow. I think perhaps the idea in my head of the workout plan I'm looking for is too specific, as I'm looking for something that I can just go do at the gym primarily (though I wouldn't totally mind there being some outdoor or at home aspects), and I'd love like an alternating cardio and strength plan.. like cardio one day, strength the next, cardio the next, then strength, and so on and so forth.
Does anyone know of any good websites or of any plans like this? Although.. the more I describe what I'm looking for I'm thinking maybe I should just make my own! Which yea I could do... but I'd like to have some confidence in the prospect of it working. I mean, I feel like if it's a plan that's already been made and other people have gotten success from it I would really be able to get on board.
