I wear my boot at night everytime I get a flare up. It isn't the most COMFORTABLE thing but it definitely helps.

To all with P/F. Recently had my PF flare up causing much pain to even get out of the car. As a large person with much to lose. Had a product recommended to me that has all but eliminated it all together. ZYFLAMEND from New Chapter. Since taking these, I have had NO PAIN or stiffness. TRY THIS from GNC. Perhaps it will work for you.
I battled plantar fasciitis for about 9 months before I found a great podiatrist who fixed me. I have a neuro disease called RSD that means I can't be casted or immobilized unless it is life saving. Usually this doc would use casts but she tailored the treatment to meet my needs. 1. Injections into the instep with cortisone once a week for 3 weeks. 2. After the injection she would wrap just my arch in a splint that had to stay in place for the whole week, keep dry, shower with a cast cover on. 3. Anytime I was off my feet and at night I wore a hard "L" shaped boot that kept my foot in the proper alignment. Those soft things are a waste of time. 4. Orthotic insoles in my tennis shoes which is all I could wear every day. No bare feet, no flip flops, no sandals. 5. PF stretches at least 6 times per day, especially after resting. Repeat again for the next two weeks, although a small cast would probably be used for most patients rather than the arch splint. I had a huge improvement but I have to continue to do my part which includes buying good shoes and wearing insoles in them. Insoles have to be replaced occasionally. For the occasional sandal, Orthaheels can be worn but they are pricey so look for sales. Just don't try to wear them every day or you will suffer. Continue stretching before and after working out. Once you have PF, your days of wearing cheap shoes and very high heels are pretty much over. But it's worth it to get rid of the pain.

I am a teacher and on my feet all day. I have PF and it is so bad that by the end of the day I limp like an old lady. I wear inserts and try to stretch but it is terrible. I feel your pain. It probably doesn't help that I continue to work out everyday.
I have the night brace, wear inserts when in tennis shoes and orthoheels when I want to wear sandals. Stretch, stretch and stretch....when I get flare ups I bought pool weights and worked out in the pool......if I had a match in tennis I took ibuprofen before hopping on the courts.....don't quit and good luck! I haven't had a flare up in 7mths.....and I no longer look like an old lady getting out of bed in the a.m. :)

I have PF, when it flares up I use the stationary bike or swim. I try not to put too many plyometric moves together in one exercise session.

My experience I make sure a have good pair of shoes, insoles for my shoes, soak, wrap, alternate between ice and heat, and elevate my foot. I also, do a lot of extra stretching.
I have PF too and the night splint is what helped me most. I have the challenge of standing on tile floors all day at work so I switch my shoes around and that helps.
I think there's a Spark PF team . Maybe you can find some advice there.
Hopefully it'll get better----I know when it flares it's really bad.

A little history, I've always had foot problems through my life (VERY high arches, tendonitis in both ankles that flare up, and over a year ago diagnosed with chronic plantar fascistic). I keep everything somewhat managed with arch support inserts, soft soled shoes, ice and a night split; though often I still have pain and discomfort but not bad.
On my last Doctor visit we've found that my blood pressure is now rising to where it is a concern. Shes recommended to exercise longer and more often and a change of diet before any medications.
I did already have a gym membership and I've began to go more frequently the last two weeks doing only the stationary bike and elliptical machines for low impact. Unfortunately it is still causing flare ups with my plantar fascists. I've been using my stretcher more frequently but it doesn't seem to help much. Today is supposed to be a gym day but even after stretched for several hours, massaged and wrapped up in my shoe the pain is horrible (even when just sitting down).
I'm beginning to think I'm not using the right type of shoe or maybe my split isn't good enough (both I'll admit are on the cheaper end): maybe I've been doing the wrong work outs. I was hoping if anyone else had similar problems you could recommend something I may not be aware of. I won't be able to see a Podiatrist for a few more weeks so I'm stuck in a limbo area right now.
