You can try the canned bean sprouts. Just give them a quick rinse before adding to the pad thai.

You might try thinly sliced boc choy which is a little different from regular cabbage, There probably really isn';t anything which will really substitute exactly for bean sprouts. Think how much healthier the boc choy is than the bean sprouts, cheaper too. emoticon

Good ideas, thanks! I tried shredded cabbage but wasn't really happy with the results.

I like to load it up with celery. You might also try brocolli slaw. It is sold by the prewashed salads at my store and it the broccoli stems julianned.

Any ideas on what to substitute for bean sprouts in a thai pad recipe? No stores in my area stock them anymore due to contamination issues. I had no idea as I rarely buy them!
