Also, check the date on the package. Some packaging is really tight, some not so much.

Put it in the freezer and keep it there. It will keep a lot longer in there.

Rancid food tastes disgusting. If it were rancid, trust me, you would know.

I have been reading about flax seed and it says that it doesn't last long and could go rancid. I have had my ground flax seed over a year but I don't think it tastes bad. I have a huge bag of it and it was expensive. If it is rancid and I am eating it could it harm me or should I throw it out?
