Whenever I know that I am going to go over my calories, I try to increase my activiy minutes that day. Also, if you know you are going to be at a celebratory event, maybe try to drink glasses of water to help keep overindulging at bay.

Can you take a few extra minutes on Thursday or Friday and plan out your weekend meals? If it's already done and just waiting for you to follow, it might be easier to do, versus waking up on your "day off" with all the wedding prep and other things, and needing to wing it when you run short on time. A little preparation in advance may help take some of the stress off of you during those weekend crunch times when you're cramming all your errands in. Treat your weekends like a weekday and pack your lunch if you're going to run some errands, or if you would like to eat out with friends or family on your errand route, pick a restaurant in advance and browse their menu so you can get yourself hungry for your selection and maybe not be so tempted by the other, less nutritious options when you are seated.
Hang in there, you can do this, look at the success you are having during the week being consistent with following your program.
I'm a problem child on the weekend; I literally feel like all that "extra" time (as compared to my weekdays at work) I have on my hands is what gets me into trouble and I need to figure out how to "create" that structure on the weekend.
What are you doing during the weekdays that you aren't doing on the weekend? You have a lot of stuff going on and that is going to be more stressful, plus the added stress of all that wedding planning and arrangements. One thing I've noticed a lot of people do is write down their goals. I'm going to start doing that on a daily basis to help keep me in track. And if I miss a goal or two that's ok, it's about the progress, not perfection.
As my dear husband told me this morning, give yourself credit for what you're doing!
You are under stress with all the wedding activities, and you are getting more than the usual amounts of temptation.
Wedding, or not, you are on your way to a healthier lifestyle. You are going to make better choices, and take better care of yourself, because you are worth it.

Hi Smug_Giraffe, In the spirit of trying to help you, let me ask you this... will the wedding stop if you don't get under 200? I am guessing that the answer is no and it should be No. But since the answer is most likely , a no, I am thinking that this is not a serious goal for you. I find that most people who attach a goal to a wedding, or getting into that dress or attending a event, don't go on to achieve the weight loss goal because we know in our minds that the day will come whether we are ready for it or not and we will attend it anyways. Weight loss goal should be for a more important reason such as health, well being and because you are doing it for yourself. Then it will be important enough that you will actually do it. But having said that, it happens often enough and to many people that weekdays are good on track and come weekend, the whole thing goes by the way side. While it is perfectly ok to indulge a little on special days such as your bridal shower/party, if you are really serious about losing weight, just be mindful of what you eat on the weekends, no need to be extra strict with yourself but do some portion control. And if all else fails, wear proper fitting pants and that should help you to atleast not overeat Best Wishes for your upcoming wedding and Good Luck for achieving your goals.

Don't beat yourself up because you've been over indulging on the weekends. Remember, you're trying to change habits learned over a life time. That's not going to happen overnight, a week, a month or even a year. Change takes time. Thus the need to be patient with yourself and your body.
Don't look at good health or weight loss with an all or nothing mentality. If you do, you will end up failing. If the only healthy thing you were to do for yourself today was to drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction.
So, don't beat yourself up because you've been eating too much during the weekends. If you're eating right (most of the time) during the week, that really is progress. If you were to eat right five out of seven days this week, you're still doing better than the average American.
Start with some simple changes first. Don't try to do everything at once or you will end up frustrated. NO ONE ever became a healthy eater overnight. that's why we start with some simple changes first. Example, if you're not used to eating 6-9 servings of fresh fruit and veggies each day, set a goal to eat 2-3 servings each day for one week. If you're not used to drinking 8 glasses of water, set a goal to drink 2-4 glasses each day for one week. Once you've achieved these goals, then you set new goals.
And that's how good health starts. It starts with one simple change. because one small change will lead to another and another and another. there are no fast ways to lose weight. I wish there were. Weight loss is a slow steady process that takes time.
And the fact is, losing that last five will take time. The closer a person is to a healthy weight for their height, the harder and longer it will be to take them off. Ask any member down to those last few and they'll tell you that it's slow going. Someone who is morbidly obese could safely lose 1-2 pounds per week. but with only five left, it could take months. that's the honest truth. Why ? well, depending on your current weight and height, you might not need to lose that five pounds. You may be at a very healthy weight already.
That's why you can't beat yourself up because the scale isn't moving as fast as you'd like it. With five pounds left, it's going to be slow going.

I am having a rough time with this whole dieting thing lately. I do really well during the week and then over the weekend I just go down hill. It doesn't help that for the last few weekends I've gone to the state fair and had my bridal shower! This weekend I have my bachelorette party and I know I am going to ruin whatever progress I made during the week. All I want to do is be under 200 before my wedding in October. I get to 201 and then bam, progress ruined. I just need a little pep talk, encouragement from someone who isn't a family member or my poor fiance. All I have is 5 pesky pounds to lose! Help!
