I used to buy Wonderbread Smartwheat and I was a little bummed that it was going away too. There are a lot of comparable brands and better brands though. It will work out.

The part I hate the worse is that the discount bread store I always got my bread at closed because they were part of Hostess. I could buy day old bread there for .59 and .99 cents a loaf. I will survive even though I now have to pay more.

Didn't realize that was a Hostess product.

I am not sure how squishy Home Pride was. There is Pepperidge Farm home style wheat. That is squishy. Then there is Arnold's Country Wheat that is a little ore substantial

I am strictly a 100% whole wheat but my DW loves Oro Wheat potato bread.

Start experimenting with different brands. I'll bet you find something you like just as well or better. There's a lot choices out there.

Don't do bread. Sometimes I will get sprouted rye but that is about it and even then it is minimal. But like the PP-- I won't miss Hostess.

Hi. Came across this. home Pride wheat is the only brand of wheat bread I can stand. Tried a lot of others. I like mine buttery, low cal, and very very soft.

I shop only at Kroger, guess i am just s.o.l.

There are lots of interesting breads some reasonablly priced and some not. Because we eat only 1 loaf a wk (instead of 1+ a day) I've been getting an Aunt Millie's oat bread that everyone seems to like from Sam's. Home Pride was our choice when we bought bread at the local grocery store.
Maybe this is an OPPORTUNITY to try some different bread brands and "flavors."

I thought they were going to try to save the company.

Do you shop at Aldi at all? They really have comparable breads, for way cheaper, too. I LOVE their 12 grain and dark whole wheat. Breeeeaaaathe.
