One big help is to have only healthy foods ready to eat in fridge...

Another is to not buy those salty snacks -- once opened they are gone!!

I see this is your first I'm guessing you are new to the site. Welcome!! I think you will find this community one that can really help you make your decision to lose weight a reality! If you haven't done so yet, please read some of "success Stories" under Community. These are folks just like you for the most part---struggled to find a way to change, and then were able to. YOU CAN DO THIS TOO!

The previous poster suggested you start with a visit to your doctor--always a wise thing to do. Our bodies change as we age (yep--I'm in the menopause phase too!!) and it is good to learn just what might be going on as our hormones shift around. There may be medical causes for your weight gain--something which is entirely out of your control--and only one way to find out!! Your doctor could also give you some really good guidelines, or perhaps a referral to a dietician. (Mine helped me defeat Pre-Diabetes!!)

As for the resources on the site...your first, best friend is the Nutrition Tracker. I found it a bit frustrating to learn to use, but now I LOVE it!!. Definitely worth the time getting some favorites listed, some of your recipes in....and after about two weeks though, the time becomes less and less to use it successfully! You can track virtually any nutrient you are interested in, and it will give you reports on how you are doing meeting your calorie and nutrient goals. If you haven't got yours set yet, there's a Start list you can access to help you determine your goals....

You can ask just about anyone here for help!! Enjoy the message boards for info and motivation, and wonderful advice from the Spark Experts. they also offer a free intro to their Spark Coach (after that its like 9.00$ a month..)
So again--welcome to the journey. You are definitely NOT ALONE!!

PS--This isn't about "Will Power"---its about being able to make healthy informed decisions, and to keep making small steps towards your goal of health living!! Dont' worry about not getting it 100% perfect all the time--none of us do!

Have you thought about consulting your doctor? If you are still exercising and maintaining a healthy diet, perhaps there is another reason for the weight gain. I'm sorry to hear you are so depressed - I too lost a good deal of weight but I have gained it all back and then some. I am still working on my recovery, but have found sparkpeople to be a good source of people to lean on :) Good luck, and keep your chin up!

I'm reached the point of crying because I have no will power anymore. I've been gaining weight because I'm in menopause. No amount of exercise and diet is helping, which makes me that more depressed. I lost 50 pounds a few years ago and now over half of it has returned. I'm tired of constantly worrying about it..................any advice???
