Welcome to Spark. You have taken an important step on your journey by joining! I've been a member a little over 3 years. I made fantastic progress and lost 100 pounds in the first year BUT I became careless about nutrition and exercise and have gained a lot of the pounds back! I became disgusted with myself and closed my Spark account, but soon realized I NEEDED to be here. I'm back using the nutrition and exercise trackers now - they are so important. The sense of community and the friendships I have made here keep me going! Explore the site, make your Sparkpage if you haven’t, join teams, and make friends. You will find this site an amazing place full of encouragement, inspiration, advice, and support. We are here to keep everyone motivated. I’ve found that the best source of motivation on spark is posting, asking questions, and finding new friends that are in this together. We are all on this journey of a healthy live style, so your not alone in this. People need someone to believe in them. They need to know that if they take that first step out of their comfort zone, someone will be supporting them all the way. With small words of encouragement, with just a little extra time, that someone could be you. In some cases, others may just be unaware of their true abilities and potential. WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time.
A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Put together your own Spark page. This is a great way to communicate with other members and build relationships that will support and motivate you. You can do this by going to the START page and the green section has something about your Sparkpage.
2. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
3. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. well... here I am again... I have to get healthy. I am miserable in my own skin. I don't recognize myself when I look in the mirror. I am a happily married mother of 2 and have had the privelidge of being a stay at home mom with an at home business for the past 6 months. I have gained 10 more lbs in that time bringing my weight up to 261. My heaviest I was 293. I will be down to 161. That's my goal. I want to be able to chase my children and play in the yard with them without being out of breath immediately. I don't want my children to be embarrased of my size as they get older. I want to be at a healthy weight before they start school. I have to do this. I don't know why I eat mindlessly even when I'm not hungry. It's like an addiction. Things have to change. I need my health back. My body doesn't deserve to be treated the way I've been treating it. According to the Bible, our bodies are a temple for the Holy Spirit and I KNOW I need to treat my body with the respect it deserves. So, no turning back. I'm moving forward and I am getting to a healthy weight, in Jesus' Name!!!
