WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time.
A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Put together your own Spark page. This is a great way to communicate with other members and build relationships that will support and motivate you. You can do this by going to the START page and the green section has something about your Sparkpage.
2. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
3. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Spark friends are here for support, motivation and encouragement. Good luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle! Again, welcome to the SP family! *~ Paula *~

Welcome! It is HARD to lose weight with medical issues, but if you persevere, you can do it! Create your Sparkpage, so that other members can interact with you, and then check out the spark teams. There are a lot of medical condition centered spark teams which should offer you some specialized support. And read - blogs, articles, whatever. Some of our members are so inspiring - INDYGIRL, for example has lost well over 200 pounds despite a lot of health issues. Check out her spark page for some true inspiration.
The more you participate on the site, the better your results will be. When I am "coasting" and not tracking and interfacing with other members, I tend to not lose weight. And when I start tracking my food again, and communicating with my spark friends, I lose. They help me keep on track and give me support.
Good Luck with your journey and I hope to see you on-line!

There are so many great resources here! I recommend starting with the nutrition/food tracker because that is the key element in weight loss for most people. Then, once you're comfortable with tracking your food on a daily basis, start exploring more areas of this site. I still find something new here almost every day. By tracking everything since May 2011 and using the other features here to keep myself focused, I lost 90 pounds and have maintained that loss for over a year now. It takes a little bit of time, but it is sooooo worth it!
And, setting up your own SparkPage and making it public/accessible will allow others to provide you with support, motivation and encouragement!

Hello everyone! My name is Candi. I am a 38 y/o mother of 4 (daughter 19, son 15, son 11 & son 8). I used to be skinny and I knew it. But now with age and medical problems, my weight is crazy. I have plantar facititis in both feet, I have a partial tear of my right ACL, I have had several c-sections, hysterectomy, bladder surgery, abnormally low heart rate, I have hypothyroidism and my hormones are totally out of wack. I have been trying for years to level everything out but I would get my thyroid balanced and then my hormones would go out of balance. Then vice versa, my hormones get balanced and thyroid goes berserk, Its an endless balance. I'm constantly trying or fighting to get things balanced all at the same time. Needless to say, its frustrating. So if anyone has any input to help this mother out, I would greatly appreciate it.
