WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time.
A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Put together your own Spark page. This is a great way to communicate with other members and build relationships that will support and motivate you. You can do this by going to the START page and the green section has something about your Sparkpage.
2. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
3. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Hello !! I lucked into this forum yesterday and its been wonderful for my lifestyle. I've never heard of Spark but I'm a complete fan already as they make it so simple to record and actually see what I'm doing.
A little background - I was in a loveless marriage for 20 years and knew I had to take back my life or be miserable for the rest of my life. I divorced then moved from one coast to the other with my children, tried a business and lost everything in the trying. Now I'm back on my feet, but my body has paid the price with 110+ extra pounds on a 5'9" frame.
I'm a very positive person, moved on with the pains I've encountered, raised two beautiful children that I am very close to and live with me. But this year I am trying a new form of New Years resolution. Every month I choose an area of my life to improve, something small so I can make it a habit by the months end. January I learned to drink my 8 cups of water a day, February, turn off the Tv and just do something else, read a book, do a hobby, etc. March was wardrobe month, April was makeover month, so a new haircut and refreshed my makeup (I am getting close to the half century mark now).
May will be moving more. I walk 20 mins a day but I need more so with the warmer weather I am planning 45 minutes walk daily at a moderate speed with my kids. Gives us the chance to talk over the day and just get to be with each other too.
So I am looking for others in the same boat that would like to chat and give hugs for even small victories. Keep on swimming those that have already started and lets catch up with the rest to all the other newbs out there !!
