counting calories is perfect for a person who is obsessive compulsive! I still have my 1000 calorie a day little booklets from back in the late 1960's, that stores used to sell at the cashier stands. lol Can you see a dietitian in person, maybe they can help you to put your love of counting things to good use, but not so much that you count too much and don't live life. Good luck!

This is a great site. Calories in vs calories out, that's the bottom line. Journaling is a great tool to help keep on track.

I have tried just about every weight loss plan there is on planet earth. My mother always said that the first bottle I ever took was 8 oz and it's been a problem ever since. I have struggled with bulimia and anorexia, I have been a Weight Watcher leader and yet I still struggle, I do like counting calories - I'm much more aware of carbs, fats and all that information that I should have paid attention to in the past.
I try not to be absolute with finding the exact food and putting in the nutrition information. I just find something that is close to what I have eaten. I can get very compulsive obsessive with things like this. So I am doing the best I can....giving myself kudos for trying and hope that the scale will show some results the next weigh in. I am on meds that tend to put weight on - instead of helping take it off - so that is something I try to keep in mind as well.
I love spark people and am becoming a bit more accustomed to all the sites.
