Just want to thank all of your for your advice and welcomes, really made me smile! I can't work due to ra, then living out of town can get a little lonely, so I really appreciated your posts!
I definately am trying to change my health, not just my weight, and It was nice to hear that from other people too.

I use the distance to force me go to the gym. We live on the very edge of our school district. My kids bus came at 6am. So I put on my workout clothes, drive them to school in town (10 miles). I go to our really nice community rec center after that. It works because I have to drive the kids to school even if I don't want to work out, then I just work out anyway because I drove all the way in. The problem I have is in the summer when the kids are out of school. I think I'll drive in tues/thurs to strenth train, do cardio on xbox, wii, and dvds other days.

emoticon Ama11150!!!
emoticon on taking the first steps to a healthier you. A emoticon toast to a healthier and more enjoyable life! emoticon emoticon emoticon And emoticon prayerfully you will find that you can enjoy it more than you would ever imagine!!!
Some thoughts and suggestions as I say emoticon to Spark People.
emoticon This sight has so much to offer! One of the easiest ways to learn a lot about what it has to offer is to go to your "My SparkPoints" tracking Page. Next to each opportunity to earn Sparkpoints there is a link that will take you to the place on the site that helps you complete the task. Some are one time opportunities, others are daily tasks. Complete as many tasks as possible per day.
emoticon don't emoticon to the temptation of making the journey all about the numbers. It is not about pounds taken off or inches trimmed, it is all about creating a healthier and more fit you. emoticon
emoticon Be on the lookout for the many, many, many non-scale non-tape measure victories you will achieve. Feeling healthier, breathing easier, enjoying activities that were once a drudgery, trying something new and enjoying it, choosing a healthy snack versus an unhealthy option, choosing a less than healthy food option over a decadent food option! The possibilities for non-scale victories are ENDLESS. emoticon
Some things to remember: emoticon drink plenty of water every day!
emoticon sleep well, it is probably more important than you know. emoticon healthier every day. emoticon Don't go the way of total deprivation, it is apt to set you up for failure and a binge that will leave you feeling devastated. Look for opportunities to emoticon every day. emoticon when you need to --it is healthier than emotional eating! Find ways to emoticon emoticon emoticon exercise that you ENJOY. The right form of exercise is the one you can stick with regularly!!! Something else may burn more calories in a shorter time, but if it makes you give up you won't burn any calories! emoticon
emoticon MAKE EVERY STEP COUNT. Even steps that seem to move you backwards or to the side have a purpose. Sometimes it is just to get another look at something you passed by without noticing.
Perhaps most importantly from my perspective DONíT LOSE weight or inchesÖTAKE THEM OFF, emoticon KICK THEM TO THE CURB. You arenít interested in FINDING them again. GET RID OF THEM through hard work, determination, accountability, whatever it takes!!!
Finally, join teams, make friends, encourage others, be encouraged, take challenges, write out SMART goals regularly and track! Track! TRACK!!! It will help with both accountability and motivation, and You will be glad you did!!!
Feel free to stop by my page, let me know if there is anything I can do to help you in the journey!

Hi! I'm very new to Sparkpeople, and I LOVE it thus far! I'm really excited about actually getting on the right track. I've only been a member for 5 days, so I'm still discovering all of the great tools and help SP offers. Today is my birthday and I feel it's fitting to start my "new year" off on the right foot. It's so encouraging to have a cache of people who have been through and are still experiencing the same issues I've dealt with for so long. There are so many people on here that it's easy to find someone who shares your story almost exactly, and when you read a success story about one of them you can't help but keep at it! I'm really hoping and anticipating this being my jumping-off point, so to speak. I have been trying on my own for ages now and I've had to realize that I will need more than just me to get it done. There is no excuse for me not to get to where I want to be, health-wise. Welcome! and good luck in all your efforts. We can do this! :D

Hi and welcome to Spark People where you will find lots of information and tons of support and encouragement from all our members. You will find that we also have fun along the way. Drink your 8-8oz glasses of water a day (If you only drink one now, add to as you are able until you are drinking your 8 cups or more a day), watch your portion control (measure everything in the beginning...guaranteed it will get easier) and walk, dance or do any exercise you enjoy (start with 10 minutes a day or several times a day and add to it as you are able or have time). Use your fitness and nutrition tracker daily (guaranteed to work if you use them consistently and honestly). Pick one thing to change...one thing at a time. Don't try to change to many things at once as that can be very overwhelming. Just try to take one step, one minute, one hour, one day, one week at a time. They honestly will all add up to the bigger numbers. These tips will definitely help in lowering your numbers and increasing your ability to enjoy life. Don't expect miracles right away...this is a lifestyle change not a diet. You will be much healthier in the long run. Post any concerns, comments or questions you may have and someone will respond quickly.
Start each day with a positive thought just for that day. Reading and reflecting on an inspirational thought or message before you start your day can put you in a positive frame of mind.
Your thoughts determine whether you have a good day or a bad day. Fill your mind with positive ideas, suggestions, and thoughts. You will find it will change your attitude and changing your attitude can change your life.
Sometimes just reading an inspirational quote or a short paragraph helps one see the positive in a situation. Sometimes as your day progresses you just need to take a break...Take a mental break and read or think about a message of inspiration.
Never underestimate your power to change and improve! You are a good person, with wonderful qualities, and you can reach your goals!
If I can be of any help to you, please let me know with a spark mail or a comment on my page. I am here for you.
God bless you on your journey to a healthier you.
Hugs,
Helen

Living out in the country can be a pain when you're trying to lose weight. What activities do you have planned for outside of the gym? I'm not strictly vegetarian but I do a ton of veggie-friendly cooking. Tonight I made a lentil loaf that was AMAZING...

Hi, I'm a Mom or two trying to 30 pounds. I have the extra challenge of having Rheumatoid arthritis. I have two kids, our family is active in 4-H. We have a few animals, live out in the country, but close to a mid sized town. I like to hike, and am interested in photography. I created a sparkpage. I guess you can find it from this message? Anyway, I am interested in vegetarian recipes because I need to reduce meat, sugar, bad carbs. I like to change my exercise a lot because it's easier on my joints not to do the same thing every day. I really want to be healthier.
