That is an awesome idea! I will try that. I do get to snack later of a morning. Usually not healthy snack, something quick. Thank you again for the advice!

I drink Shakeology from Beachbody and it's pretty good!

As far as shoes; I was just wearing "regular" running shoes until I finally went to be properly fit and measured, and WOW the difference!! If you have something like a "Fit 2 Run" store, they analyze your gait while you run and then determine your arches, etc. Definitely the best running investment I have made!

A trick my mom used when I was growing up was to make a batch of breakfast smoothies for her on Sunday night and then drink them on the way to work each morning. She'd put things like yogurt, peanut butter, berries, bananas, apples, etc in it. All she had to do in the morning was pour it into a travel mug while we were eating breakfast.

TONIKA do you eat a morning snack? Perhaps that can be high protein....or just get it later in the day.

Ditto to the previous poster. It's better to get nutrients from food and then supplement if that's a problem. SP is all about health for me and eating as clean as I can with less processed foods.

SP is all things to all people...that's what I love about it. So welcome and good luck to you.

Awesome! Thanks! I will try to see what store I can find that can properly fit me! I was wondering about the protein powder because I am not a breakfast eater! Just looking or a quick meal replacement. With 4 kiddos it's hard to fix breakfast every morning!! Thanks for the tips!

No comment on the 'best' protein powder but I'm generally under the impression that it's not necessary unless you're consistently falling short on your daily protein intake. Frankly, I've tried some and find it nasty.

As for shoes, the best shoes are ones that fit and give you proper support. Head to your local running store and get fitted there. You don't need to buy them there but its definitely important to get fitted by a pro. Good luck!

Hello I am new to Spark People. I have decided it was well past time for me to lose weight and be active. My goal is to run a 5K and become an everyday runner. I was wondering what is the best protein powder and what shoes are the best for running? Thank you all
