Hi! I have just recently started as well. I am working on losing 50 pounds by my 42nd birthday in July 2013. I have been following weight watchers as well. How's it going for you? Have you been tracking your points? I think the tracking is really helping me.

Welcome Janie, I have been back and forth with SP.....now I have lost all control and am eating everything! But everytime I fail I turn to SP! It is an awesome website. And I would love to be your friend. I have chosen not to be friends with anyone so far. But I decided that I need some encouraging words from other members! I am 43 and would like to loose the same amount. So how about it...Kristi

Although I first logged onto SP in 2006 and used the site for a few months, I then took a 6 year hiatus, so I'm relatively new here myself (within the last week).
I am almost the same age and wish to lose almost the same amount of weight as you....may I ask what part of the country you are in? It would be great to find someone in my area with the same goals and timeframe.

Hi and congratulations on beginning your Spark journey!
There's so much here to help you along the way and excellent advice to setting and achieving healthy goals. With the thousands and thousands of fellow Sparkers you will always find someone you can connect with. I am always amazed how many lives have been changed for the better through the use of SparkPeople.
If you have not already done so, I suggest that you check out the videos in the "Healthy Lifestyle" section. Scroll down for the site orientation videos.
That should point you in the right direction. I find that if you just start looking around Spark, you will quickly learn about the wonderful tools available for your use. After being a Sparker since 2007, I still find something new and very useful.

Hi - my name is Janie and I am new to Sparkpeople. I want to lose 45lbs by my 45th birthday (June 2013) and I'd like to do it the smartly. I signed up for Weight Watchers for one month, the same day I signed up for this site. I am going to log into both for the month and determine which one works best for me (I don't mind spending the money if it's the best tool for me).
