I'd say to go to YouTube and listen to the lectures of RICHARD BERNSTEIN M.D. who wrote "The Diabetes Solution" as he has had Type 1 diabetes since he was 12 and he is a very healthy 78 now. He sees mostly type 2 diabetics in his practice, but he says that ALL obese people are INSULIN RESISTANT. I got his book at the library and learned so much. His lectures on YouTube are very helpful. Diabetes is BAD as it does so much damage to the body. He says ALL obese people should be on Metformin if they want to lose weight, so don't be to sure that you don't want the medicine, as it can help. Few people stay on the diet, so I'd not waste the money on WW as that gets expensive, but I've read the MD can be good if you prepare the food and follow it.
I'm sorry if this post gets long. I signed up with this site quite a while ago. Being the stubborn person that I am, I didn't really do too much, figuring that I could do this on my own. Well, you can probably guess that it didn't work. I went to a new doctor last week. My numbers are horrible and she's threatening insulin if I don't get them down. She gave me a slip for blood work but my next appt isn't until January! I want to prove to her that I can do this and I don't need insulin. She recommended either Weight Watchers or a Mediterranean Diet plan. I need help! We have a nice StairClimber at home which I plan to start using again. Advice please? Help! Thank you!
