I'm SO, SO sorry to be a Johnny-come-lately on this subject. I don't usually wander out of my SparkTeams and into the general Message Boards, but knew there had to be a place where we could comment on the site itself.
THANK YOU!!!!! Did I say that loud enough???? THANK YOU for the changes to the nutrition tracker. It is so much quicker now to track my food and I don't know how well I would have done during the last three weeks' mad dash to and from work and to and from the hospital to visit my husband and to and from home with the old tracker.
With the new one, I was able to catch up nearly every night and, because of that, I could see the trend of dropping proteins and lower calories, and grab myself by the scruff of the neck and make sure that I didn't end up in the hospital, too!
Really, really, really cannot thank you enough for the improvements! Soxy

I love it its so easy. You can add food the old way. Edit food like I'm trying not to eat as much white bead so I'll be able to remove it from my favorites. Simple
For me, it seems more cumbersome. However, I'm sure it's because of the algorythm of how I think about my entries and meals when I am adding them. I went back to using the popup because I almost always have my entire set of food choices in my favorites and it just seems quicker because of how I approach it.
The one thing I've always wished they would do, though, is to display your current running calorie count in the area where you are adding your food. I like the totals at the bottom for all the other things, but having your current calorie count in that area would be nice.

I like the new tracker (in many ways it makes more sense to me, and because my computer is often very slow, having less pop-up windows is really nice) but I often find that if I click on some favorites and enter them and then walk away for awhile and come back, I can't just enter more favorites without completely LEAVING the Nutrition tracker page (not just re-opening favorites) and coming back.

Coach Denise, I was going to copy and paste my numbers for you, but they are now correct. (I haven't added anything, so not sure when they changed.) They were off by several digits, not due to rounding. Yesterday it was off in all categories by a fairly large amount (25 or so in calories, etc). This morning after only posting breakfast the calories were off by about 10, similar in other categories. Hopefully it will stay fixed, thanks for responding so quickly.

I really like being able to choose many foods at once. I have noticed that after I enter some food items and it subtracts from my available nutrition info at the bottom that the math is off. Anyone else noticing this?
I hate hate hate that you don't have the "search manually entered food" right at your fingertips anymore. And to make matters worst, trying to narrow down the list of favorite/manually entered food once you click that tab, doesn't seem to work too well on IE7. And by not too well, I mean I started typing "spag" and it came up with "Bread". I tried a few different things and they did not work either. (The feature does work like it's supposed to when I'm at work, using Safari).
I'd be a lot happier with the change if they let you search through your favorites from the first tab.
I'd also be a lot happier if the amount of calories in a day was spaced out a bit more and had its coma back. The page was so nice and clean before, now it feels chunky and the fact that the numbers at the bottom say "1650" instead of "1,650" actually makes it a lot harder to read.
I think the new tracker is awesome! I do not loyally track my food intake but maybe this will make it easier.

It is rather stupid that in many applications more steps are now required.
I rarely, if ever, search a food that I did not manually enter, and now it's an extra step to enter the food I want. Along with that pain in my rear, with this new tracker all of my serving sizes are out of wack. This also happens when trying to enter another members manually entered foods, and in that case we have no idea what the original serving size was. I have to say that this is a HUGE fail on the part of SparkPeople.

While I agree that there are some new features that make logging easier, such as being able to select multiple items from your favorites list or have a food converter right at your fingertips, I disagree that logging is faster all around. It actually takes extra "clicks" to do some of the actions I perform regularly.
For instance, if I want to search foods I've manually entered (but haven't favorited), I need to search once, then check the "manually entered" option and hit search a second time. Or, if I want to import foods from another member (helpful when you want search by user) you have to first click on "Share Manually Entered Food", then click on the "Import" option.
One last thing that I noticed dealt with default serving size on manually entered foods. I entered a food that had a serving size of 0.5 cups. However, when I entered it into my tracker, the default serving size now read 1 cup. All the nutritional info was multiplied accordingly, but to enter one true serving I had to alter the default amount.
In all three cases, one additional step was needed when compared to the old tracker.

When you're finished tracking your food for the day, where is the tab to click to say that you are finished for the day? It was there before. It probably makes no difference, but I liked having the finality for the day. HELP! Am I over looking it??
I love the new tracker. You can put in multiple foods, serving sizes and meals at one time. I know this is new, but there is one tiny glitch ... after you enter the food if you want to go back and add something else you have to refresh the entire page or it won't re-enter more information. I know that will be resolved so kudos to the webmaster!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't have DSL so this is a great time-saver. Thanks.
