Hi Josie and welcome to Spark People where you will find lots of information and tons of support and encouragement from all our members. You will find that we also have fun along the way. Drink your 8-8oz glasses of water a day (If you only drink one now, add to as you are able until you are drinking your 8 cups or more a day), watch your portion control (measure everything in the beginning...guaranteed it will get easier) and walk, dance or do any exercise you enjoy (start with 10 minutes a day or several times a day and add to it as you are able or have time). I like your seven minutes for each of your exercises. You definitely have the right idea!! Use your fitness and nutrition tracker daily (guaranteed to work if you use them consistently and honestly). Pick one thing to change...one thing at a time. Don't try to change to many things at once as that can be very overwhelming. Just try to take one step, one minute, one hour, one day, one week at a time. They honestly will all add up to the bigger numbers. These tips will definitely help in lowering your numbers and increasing your ability to enjoy life. Don't expect miracles right away...this is a lifestyle change not a diet. You will be much healthier in the long run. Post any concerns, comments or questions you may have and someone will respond quickly. Start each day with a positive thought just for that day. Reading and reflecting on an inspirational thought or message before you start your day can put you in a positive frame of mind. Your thoughts determine whether you have a good day or a bad day. Fill your mind with positive ideas, suggestions, and thoughts. You will find it will change your attitude and changing your attitude can change your life. Sometimes just reading an inspirational quote or a short paragraph helps one see the positive in a situation. Sometimes as your day progresses you just need to take a break...Take a mental break and read or think about a message of inspiration. Never underestimate your power to change and improve! You are a good person, with wonderful qualities, and you can reach your goals! Set up your Spark page so that we can visit and get to know you, send you spark goodies, and leave encouraging and supportive comments to help you along the way. If I can be of any help to you, please let me know with a spark mail or a comment on my page. I am here for you. God bless you on your journey to a healthier you. Hugs, Helen

Hello! After not being on a scale for 13 years, I finally had the nerve to weigh in. I was shocked because I knew I had weight to lose, but not that much! I now weigh a whopping 195 pounds and I'm only 5'3! I guess nobody notices because I camouflage my weight with pretty clothes and accessories...down to the floor Bohemian skirts. I think that I look pretty good. But, whenever I see a photo of myself, I exclaim "That can't be me!" when I see how big my arms and belly have grown and how matronly I look. When my Mom, who hasn't seen me in a long time, comes to visit, she is mortified by how much weight I've gained and she's pretty darn blunt about it. I basically wear a tent all Summer and not a sliver of my skin sees the summer sun. My goal is to wear shorts (with confidence) this summer! So, here I am on Day 2. I'm taking things slowly, but surely. My main Food Faux Pas is that I don't eat breakfast, so I'm ravenous when I get home from work. I have serious cravings for whole dairy and in the past, I've guzzled a gallon of whole milk in two days (at least I don't drink soda.) Managed to only drink two cups each of these two days. I've prepared my breakfast and lunch for tomorrow, so I'm all set. I'm doing a Bento Box style breakfast and lunch with little tidbits of a wide variety of foods, so that I don't get bored and I don't have to give up my favorites...I can just have a delectable little taste. I HATE exercise! So, I have to do this in teeny tiny increments or I'll end up doing nothing. Here's my new exercise plan for each day: 7-minute Walk; 7-minutes on stationary bike; 7-minutes dancing around the apartment; 7-minutes leg lifts. I managed to do this today! I watched the clock the whole time that I was on the bike. I LOVE this website! I am very motivated by the Points/ Reward System and I'm very inspired by the Success Stories that other Spark People have posted. :) Josie
