When I first began working to lose weight I went through a huge phase where every time I went to the grocery store I brought home something from the produce dept that I had either never tried or I thought I didn't like but may have based that opinion on someone's bad cooking lol. I found I really did like pretty much everything as long as I found a good way to prepare it.
The list of what I now eat regularly that I never used to eat is long but a few things that stand out to me are--
eggplant cabbage asparagus kale collard greens sprouts of all kinds spaghetti squash butternut and acorn squash legumes daikon fresh cilantro arugula (my FAVORITE lettuce!) avocado jicama rhubarb kumquats brussel sprouts (love!!) snap peas small seedless cucumbers (I used to not like cucumbers but I love the little seedless variety) okra (love it in soup...only soup lol) mango rutabaga beets fennel/anise bell peppers
I haven't tried anything new as a direct result of joining SP....but I think since I joined I have added lentils, cauliflower and onions to the things that I can now make without my husband turning his nose up.
Most recent new thing to try was sauerkraut because it's suppose to be a good source of K2 vitamins which apparently a lot of people are low on. I made this soup allrecipes.com/recipe/sauerkraut-soup-ii/d etail.aspx it is very good (must rinse the sauerkraut to avoid sour taste and remove salt). I will be remaking it again only I need to look into how to make a clean alternative to the canned soups and will use fresh potatoes and carrots instead of canned. I think it would also be fine without the sausage.....husband heard sauerkraut and turned his nose up.
I haven't really tried any new foods since I had a pretty varied diet to begin with, but I did start preparing my own salad dressings rather than buying them. I am very pleased with the results so far.
What's a new food you've tried since joining Spark that you liked What have you tried that you didn't like. I had never had a protein bar before. I had never had Greek Yogurt and I don't care for it much.
