Daily we all get to be "New Again"...thank goodness:) I love this site and never utilized it to its full potential until this past month. I am on here to be honest with myself...accountable to myself. It is in the journey itself that the rewards are found...not in the destination...and the journey is what we were all placed here to experience anyway. Be gentle and kind with yourselves and others. Blessings

On again, off again doesn't work. If you want to change your lif, you need to change your life. Here are my suggestions:
You say that you don't have any motivation. Here is your assignment for tonight: Write down why you want to lose weight. You wouldn't be here if you did not want to lose weight. List all the reasons why those extra pounds are burdensome. That is your motivation.
Part 2 is determining whether wanting to reach that goal is worth the effort needed to do so. If you do not think it is worth it, nobody else can help you to get there. If you DO think it is worth the trouble and hard work, nothing can stop you! We can encourage you, we can help you through the temptations and hard spots, but we cannot give you the motivation to do something that you do not want to do.
Part 3 is your plan. How do you plan to lose the weight that you have decided is worth the effort to lose? Will it be dieting? How? Calories? How many? Atkins? Weight Watchers? What kind of exercise and how much are you prepared to do at this point? If you don't have a plan, you will continue doing the same thing you are doing now and that isn't helping you to get to where you want to be..... which brings us to step 4...
Part 4- What is your goal? You can set an ultimate goal, but 50# is a lot to look at. You need to set smaller measurable goals. Not all of them should or have to do with weight. Perhaps it is to move for 10 minutes straight. That movement might be walking, dancing, jogging or marching in place. You might want to get below a certain milestone number (those over 200# tend to strive for ONE-derland). Or look at a 5% weightloss. YOU decide the goals.
Now put these all together and get this plan in motion. Create your Sparkpage so that I (and others) can cheer you on personally. Check out other Sparkpages and read some blogs for encouragement. We can help.

I've been having the same problem. & We are at the same weight :) On and off again on Sparks as well......
A friend suggested i try running just 3 days a week, even if only for 10 mins. I'm not sure what it is but it helped. I've always hated running but it really has helped for me combining with strength training is my next step.
I've told myself it doesn't matter how long it takes...... if i continue to watch my intake and exercise it will change my life.

I've been mostly on Sparkpeople for a while now, but I keep getting frustrated at my lack of progress. I'm eating better, always within my calorie range and fat, protein and carb range as well. I'm exercising several times a week, mostly cardio, and I just can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Every week I'm either the same weight or slightly heavier and I'm starting to lose my drive to continue. Any ideas on how to break free from the plateau?
