oh, another question...is there any stretch I could do after my walks to help prevent this knot from forming?

I have fibromyalgia, so it just might be something I have to deal with, but if I could find a way to help lessen the likelihood of the knot or it's size and painfulness, that would be great. I love yoga, so if you know of a pose that would help, please let me know!

Heid - just a little forewarning....that spot might be somewhat sore tomorrow. The first time I foamrolled, I felt very relaxed yet also felt like I'd just been in a boxing match.

I would definitely recommend the foam roll!!!

I'll invest in a foam roller soon, but for now I used the rolling pin since it was handy.

It made my toes tingle! The muscle relaxed! whoohoo! Who knew!?!?!

I would suggest getting a foam roller. they roll out knots very well! Or like the previouse reply, a tennis ball or something like that.

knots don't respond well to stretching. Roll it out with a rolling pin, or lie on a tennis or softball to massage it out.

I do a lot of walking and Leslie Sansone walking dvds. I have developed a muscle knot at the front top of my right thigh, just below where the leg bends at the hip, more towards the right than center of thigh.

I need an idea for a stretch to do.
