Hi Marie. I know exactly how you feel. Even though I have my husband and family around me, I'm on my own when it comes to being healthy and trying to lose weight. Everyone in my house enjoys junk food and they screw their faces up at everything I eat and I'm getting really tired of having to prepare 2 different meals for dinner.lol. Yes I have to have a laugh at myself for that last comment.
Anyway, I learned a long time ago that if you can rid yourself of a bad habit in 30 days. I finally tried it out and still going strong 7 weeks later with 5 of those weeks using Spark People. It's not easy to change your lifestyle and every little bad habit you have all at once. Try one thing at a time and ease yourself away from it. Your mind set will start to change and I think that's the key to keeping you on your journey to getting healthy. You will wake up wanting to eat right and work out. I love the SP workouts because I have lower back problems and, not only am I working out and burning calories. I'm also strengthening my back so, eventually I can increase the intensity.
When it comes to eating. Don't be afraid to try new things. I couldn't stand the thought of eating a lentil burger or vegetarian chili but, I can honestly say that I enjoy most of the food items on the menu. I've had a few cheat days and I'm sure that's normal and I have to say I felt extra guilty about it and made sure I burned more calories on those days.
I know you can do it Marie!!! :D
If you have any questions or just need some motivation or someone to talk to, I'm here everyday.

WELCOME TO SPARK!!! Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time. A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.
1. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.
2. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.
The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Spark friends are here for support, motivation and encouragement. Good luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle! Again, welcome to the SP family! *~ Paula *~

I think its great you have the motivation to get on here and try. Youre doing more than others. Ive found that Ill try to challenge myself as parts of my workouts but only you can get up and going.Im still in the beginning myself and very new to this site but I can honestly say I've never regretted going to the gym or for a walk.... Even if I don't drop 20 lbs in a week I focus on little things like I ran for a whole minute the other day and I was so proud. I think its great you liked the rest of us want to make a change. Only you can do it. But you definitely can!
Ah, yes, motivation. You are definitely not alone in that struggle.
Have you read any of the SparkPeople articles about motivation? That might be a good place to start.
Do you have anyone around you that can serve as your buddy? Maybe it's someone that you can share your goals with and who can help you along the way. Perhaps it's even someone that you do exercise with or someone you can call when you're having a tough day with nutrition. If not, there are plenty of people here.
SparkPeople also has some motivational quotes (a couple hundred to choose from) that you can print and post around you for motivation.
We may all be at different points along our journey, but we're all here together on the same road. It's a great place to ask questions, and to share your ups and downs.

Hi my names Marie! I joined spark people because I have been epically failing at weight loss and I've take a critical look at my methods, and I think it's because I am lacking support in my weight loss goals.
I plan everything out, I mean everything. Calories, journals, workout out times, but I have no motivation to do anything. Maybe because I'm lonely or just am stuck in old habits?
Any tips, encouragement etc is really appreciated and I'll definitely do the same! :)
