Agreed with any movement is exercise. Exercise on particular time helps you, it is a part of your day schedule. But one should always in mind set to do exercise at any time. Not really hard exercise but small movements of body part to strength or to relax.
For example- if you are in office siting on your desk for 7-9 hours long, you can do exercise like round neck, moving shoulders and stretch feet or hands. Such exercise will compliment and keeps you fresh and fit all the time.

When take our dogs outside for the last time at night do steps have gotten up to 300 before they are ready to go inside again
any movement is exercise and can get you fit

Sometimes I get to self-conscience to jumping around, my stomach slaps against me, I don't want the neighbors thinking I'm applauding myself. So nice walk around the neighborhood and enjoy nature gets in the exercise and relieves the stress. It all helps to our end goals. emoticon

If you have a Wii or Kinnect, try the game just dance - It's fun and gets everyone moving - the people who are move capable can get into it more and the heavier less fit people can just get up and move.

Hula Hooping. No impact on joints and you can born up to 100 calories in 10 - 15 minutes. (If you can keep it going fast enough.). emoticon

If you lived in Baton Rouge, I'd try to sell to you my business's services; however, you can probably find companies near by like games2u for some active group activities.

You could do a group activity of laser tag. You can't help but run around! Plus, all of your players don't have to all be in the same shape.

Zorbie balls (aka human hamster balls) are tons of fun too, and you can really break a sweat running around in the ball. Only problem is that some of those hamster balls do have a weight limit (ours is about 300lbs).

Offering a variety of activities is a good suggestion! Locally, I sometimes go to Water exercise class or deep water fitness (participants wear a bouyancy belt), it is a good class for ALL weights and fitness levels. The extremely obese participants have their weight supported by water, so they are able to walk or do exercises. I go to the class at our community pool.

Some of the old picnic/party type games (three legged walk, race carrying a raw egg in spoon, relay race passing an orange without using your hands, tug of war, Simon Says) are fun for everyone.

We set up a nerf gun challenge (like the history channel's top shot) with some physical challenges between shooting stations ranging from young to older with lots of different physical abilities (even wheelchair users) and it turned out to be fun and good exercise!

I've got bad ankles and knees and I've also weighed lots more. I still can't do all the physical things I'd like to despite being thinner and healthier.

Maybe you could have a short walking route, while others run or jog a larger "loop" so they cross paths with those doing the shorter distance. I used to do this informally with someone I worked with. We'd warm up together on my short route, then off she'd go on the longer route, waving as she crossed back near me.

Perhaps you could invite a Zumba Gold (less intense) instructor for a fun group dance session.

I am still working up to it, but my Y has mini-triathlons, with 20 min. swimming, 20 min. on stationary bike, and 20 on treadmill. It can be done by individuals or teams, you are allowed 5 minutes between each activity. If you aren't a swimmer, you team up with someone to do that part, while you do the bike or treadmill. They have different age groups compete, from kids on up. Someone records the times at each station. Maybe you could even have a 10-minute version so people new to the idea could give it a try.

I've started using Zombies, Run on my phone when I'm out for a walk. I'm a sucker for a story, and is pretty immersive. I've also got an old PS2 and several DDR games that I just finally pulled out since my move. I haven't played in over a year, and I can feel it.

The Wii can be quite good - very fun and may engage anyone slightly younger who wants to get involved. Check Wii Fit and Wii Fit plus, Zumba, Yoga etc.

How about a dance party ? If you check out Richard Simmon's Sweating to the Oldies DVD workouts, you'll see people of different shapes and sizes.

Do you know anyone who is a group exercise instructor ? If you know someone who is a certified instructor, they could help lead a Zumba dance party. Dancing is a great activity that many people enjoy doing. The person with limited mobility could do some of the upper body movements while sitting in a chair.

How about getting some beach balls, toss the balls around. people can sit or stand.

How about trying jump rope ? No one says you have to be an expert. everyone can jump at their own pace.

How about hula hooping ? Several Sparkers started a hula hoop challenge.

Personally, if you want to do a group thing, you need to find an activity everyone enjoys as well as can do (even at their own pace). How about starting a walking challenge ? try to do 1,000 or 2,000 or up to 10,000 steps in a day.

I think you're best bet is going to your local gym and seeing if you can recruit an instructor or PT to help out. If you offer a nominal fee, (say $5 per person for a 90 minute beginner exercise class), I'm sure an instructor would take you up on that offer.

I have started a "Biggest Loser" type challenge in our community and wanted to have games and activities that will be fun and help burn calories. The problem is that everyone in the group is of all different weights and physical ability. For instance, there are a few who just want to lose a little weight but wanted the motivation. Then there are those who have 100 pounds or more to lose. There is one who is not physically able to do a lot of hard physical stuff. So my question is.... what kind of activities would be good for all? Something not too challenging for some and yet enough for the others? I am stumped!!
