I should have specificed that yes, the orthopedist did say it was okay to continue exercising, just not on the treadmill or jogging on pavement. When I asked him for suggestions, he said most of his patients with the same problem I have do either the elliptical or swim. What I have is mostly bone bruising with a very mild stress fracture (1 or 2 out of a 10) that was only visible via MRI. I'm just hoping there's some other way of getting cardio in that I haven't thought of which will be easier on my knees for the next 4-10 weeks (my projected healing time).

This is a question for your doctor. You should not be exercising on a fractured bone under any circumstances without clearance from your medical professional. A referral to a physical therapist who can design a program around your injury (when and if it's okay to do so) is what I would ask for.
None of us here can nor should recommend anything, because we don't know your needs and most of us aren't medical professionals anyway. :)
Here's to quick healing!

Does your doctor recommend exercising when you have a stress fracture? If so, ask your doctor what exercises are appropriate. If your doctor has not said it's ok to exercise with your stress fracture then obviously you should rest until it heals so that you don't aggrevate it further or get injured.

What kind of cardio can I do with bone bruising/a very mild stress fracture in my knee? 30 mins on the treadmill or elliptical aggravate it, and after a 60 minute walk around my neighborhood yesterday, it still hurt. What can I do, other than swimming? (No pool at my gym/no desire to use public pools ;)
