I like my Yaktraks! They keep me from slipping! A lot of committed runners in our area use them. (Pacific NW near the Canadian border).

I never found these to be very comfortable, but a lot of runners I know use Yaktraks:

Hope that helps,

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good pair of grips for my shoes? We have recently had a major freeze, and my walking/running route has turned to glare ice - since I am not a fan of working out indoors, I am not prepared to give up my outdoor routine. I am presently using an inexpensive pair of grips, but after 17 km, the rubber is already cracking (it could be because of the temperatures); not to mention, that I need to stop and reposition them every half km.
Brand suggestions?? Thank you!
