ok, so i havent updated in awhile, i am doing ok, not getting to walk so much as my car is broken down, i am just maintaining, everyday, and trying to keep myself in line. will update soon because i am getting ready to change things up.
I was one day away from lap band in 2011. And the night before I had either a panic attack or a change of plans whatever it was. I seen another doctor early in 2012 and was on the track to having the surgery in Sept, and sometime around May I went for my appt and discussed with her that I was interested in LB, and she said no, she wanted me to have bypass. I left her office determined that I would lose 25 more lbs, as I had lost 25 already on my own. If I could lose the 25 she would consider doing the LB instead. So, I started walking, watching my calories, really working at it, harder than I had ever worked, and I lost a total of 67 pounds from May til January 2013. I never once went back to the surgeon. I made my choice, lose what I can on my own and no surgery. I gained back 13 of those lbs after breaking my foot in Jan and it stalled my weight loss, stress, no walking, and alot of personal issues going on during that time. Since about March, I have been steady, no loss or gain. So, now is the time to get it jumpstarted again. The pre-surgery diet I followed is not too bad, it consists mostly of whey protein powder, which I drink daily anyway. And cottage cheese, greek yogurt, soft boiled or scrambled eggs, tuna, chicken breast chunk and alot of chicken broth watered down. I can also have sugar free popscicles and fruit. It is mostly a liquid based diet and lasts only 2 weeks. I did lose weight and surprisingly felt full. I am just going to try it for 2 weeks and see if I cant get a few pounds off to help get me back into the right frame of mind and make me follow thru.
I follow a lot of people here and on Youtube who have had WLS and they have managed to regain the weight. One woman had the gastric sleeve & she said in a blog that she had managed to eat potato chips and Oreos by chewing until they were liquid and then swallowing. I don't understand why she didn't just spit them out rather than putting them in her body so she regained the weight. When I was dealing with cravings, I knew I really wanted the TASTE, so I'd go in the bathroom and look in the mirror and talk to myself as I took a bite of ice cream (always some sugar, and not hard boiled eggs like Dr. Atkins said to have when you were in a craving) and I'd put it in my mouth and before I'd swallow, I'd spit it out. Usually in about 10 minutes the craving would"pass" and I'd clean the sink and brush my teeth and then drink a quart of no calorie drink and have a piece of sugarless gum. Then I didn't have that "voice" telling me what a pathetic person I was because I had eaten that bad food.
So, I have decided to share, for the next two weeks, beginning Oct 16. I am going to go back to the pre-surgical weight loss diet. No, I am not going to be having surgery, but I followed the diet when I was going to, and changed my mind. On that diet, I lost about 7 lbs and I hope to accomplish at least that much this time, only then I wasnt walking or working out like now. And yes, I know diets dont always work, but I do not plan to make it a lifestyle change. I am going to use this plan to hopefully jumpstart my metabolism and get to burning some calories and adding more protein to my diet. I am at a loss for what else to try. I havent had a substansial loss in a very long time. This helped me once before, its worth a shot. Each day I will be commenting and tracking my food here and my results.
