I know it's scary; to have an untreated medical issue and be uninsured is a terrifying place to be.

Beat down doors until you get help; even if you can't get assistance, they can bill you; and better to have a big hospital bill than a big funeral bill, you know?

Do NOT exercise. Call the hospital, and ask for help. Called united Way (211) and see if they have resources. Call DHR... even if you have had income in the past, if you're currently unemployed, you should apply for assistance. STate rules vary, but here it's your income for the last two months. All you'll need is a separation notice or something proving you're no longer working. You can still lose weight through diet alone, and the risks of exercising right now are too great to even consider it.

Be loud. Ask for help. Be THAT patient. You have the right to care. DEmand it!

emoticon Honest thank you

I am trying so hard but my current environment , but 1st I thought I had to get out of the truck, and I did, but now I am still not where I want to be, closer , yes , on the right path, I hope so, think so, but then....

So losing weight is my only job, and it pays little $$ , but hopefully it will prolong my life, and thus if I need to work till I die I can be happy with that, if it puts 20 more years on my life.

This particular issue scare me , it is my 1st major health issue to do this, but being as big as I am, I can not be docile, it would be suicide, but going overboard with workouts would also be suicide , maybe. So fine line I must go thru , leaving my state of mind is very occupied and changing by the minute everyday, every ache in my gut, every twitch, and trusting God is great and what I am kinda doing now, but we all know that goes so far, if it is meant to be it will be, I hope not for me, but being a non-educated person, it is almost , not comeltely impoosible for me to start a new career at my age, yes others do ti, and I would ove to do something other than drive a truck, but what.

okay enough

Oh,oh Patrick. My daughter-in-law has a hernia like that and she will die if she does not get help. Please, please weigh and measure what you eat and lose the weight. If she did that she would get better too.

In response to a question you asked in your original post-- is this dangerous if it bursts. Yes, it is. Your intestines contain a lot of bacteria that do not harm you IF they stay inside the intestines. But if they get out and about, into your abdominal cavity, that's bad. My DH had colon cancer and then complications after the surgery because bacteria from his intestines got into his abdomenal cavity.

My suggestion would be to find whatever health clinic/free clinic you have in your area, and start there. I live in a very small town, but even we have a free health clinic. You could google it or just call the Health Dept. for your town and ask about a free clinic.

Nancy it was a great site, but I am way too confused, sorry, but i am truck driver because i am unable to do much of anything else.
I am a bit slow and all that info seem to me to be too overwhelming, and would not know how to proceed, but will peck away and who knows, God willing something may work out.

Thanks , really I know this , maybe I am just looking for the answer i want to hear, even if it is not out there.

Thanks for the link.

I will if I could go get surgery, but sometimes it isn't that easy for some of us, wish it was, I worked hard for years, 12-18rh days for years and years, and now this happens.

Hi Patrick,

While I can only imagine how difficult this must be, our members, even in their good intentions, and experts are not a substitute for medical advice that should come from a licensed health care provider.

Below is a link to SparkPeople's Ask the Experts response to those seeking medical advice.

I hope this helps!

Patrick,

I don't know where you are in Florida, but there are free medical clinics listed where you can go and talk to a doctor.

www.freemedicalsearch.org/sta/florida

Do a search for your town and see what clinics are nearby. Then give them a call. It's a start. And well, do you have a Walmart, Walgreens or CVS near you ? The larger ones have Minute Clinics. They are staffed with nurse practitioners. You could try them too.

Thank you, But....
I am a truck driver, I have no doctor like most people do, never had insurance, thus no Doctor.

This is why I am asking here, when I went to ER, they referred me to this DR, which took weeks to see, and he just said surgery is needed, but nothing about stopping what I do, actually he was non-chalant, about it, saying it will not go away, and could I get the money for relatives, etc..well I can not it is just me, so now what.

No Money or Insurance

No family Doctor

I worked recently so I made too much money to qualify for government assistance, 6 mnths to year of being unemployed may , not automatically ,allow me to possibly get help, but this was not my path I want to take.

I really wanted to lose weight and go back to work , get insurance and get fixed, but the weight loss is going to slow, and I will not get back into a truck until I am well enough, my choice, and right or wrong, it is the choice I make, to me it is the only choice, be safe , not only to me but the people on the road with me, the right thing to do.

Again I rambled on too much sorry, I get very passionate about this

patrick

Patrick,

You have to call your doctor even though you don't have insurance. They know more about your medical background than anyone here on Spark. You need a professional opinion, not the well meaning, but totally anonymous opinions from a weight loss forum.

And you must stop exercising !! I know you want to stay active, but right now any exercise you do increases your risk of that hernia bursting. I can assure you that you will not derail any of your efforts at long term weight loss if you stop exercising for a couple of weeks or longer.

If you want to be healthy, lay off any exercise and call your doctor immediately. No one will consider you a slacker because you can't exercise. The risk for infection is serious and shouldn't be ignored.

Take care of yourself.

Unless a doctor tells you that exercise is okay, you need to stop. No diet/fitness plan should ever be done unless a doctor tells you it's okay.

This is a repeat from my blog

Yes I am still proceeding with my workouts and walking , treadmill and stationary bike. I am using weight machine, but trying to avoid any major stomach excersise's , but I am scared.

I went to ER when the pain got bad and was told what needed to be done, surgery before it actually bursts, as it will not get better, and needs to be mesh patched he said, but wth no insurance or money, I get no surgery, unless it bursts and then emergenct surgery will be done, but not by him, by whoever is in ER duty he said, amking it sound like I would be gambling if I waited till then, I think he scaring me into robbing a bank to get he money for surgery, but I am not a bank robber, and never will be.

is this as dengerous as he said, like if it did burst that cleaning it up could be very very hard and never really be complete as the intestines are very vile stuff and very minute too, and infection is almost an given and so on and so on, he went.

okay I could go on but I think enough has been said, could someone here know and help me with more info, or been thru this, either having it burst or having the sugery before it burst, and is mesh patch the eway to go, is therr another way, etc... so many questions

I am scared but can not stop working out , at my weight I need to stay active, or else just give up, and I do not wish to die and nor do i want quit, I want to be healthy again

thanks so much Patrick
