People are so insensitive. Be motivated by wanting to live a full life

Good for you! You CAN do it! There are people that weigh what you do that lose a lot of weight without surgery (some on SP!!!) and I know that it will be very hard, and at times, incredibly frustrating, but you CAN do it! Heck, you will have a lot of success if you Really start counting and watching your portions right away!

Some people don't realize they are being hurtful when they are trying to be helpful. Just because he is a doctor doesn't mean he has good bedside manner.

In any case whatever your motivation is keep it with you at all times. Losing weight takes a long time and a lot of perseverance but you can do anything you set your mind to.

God bless.

Lol! Your story made me laugh. It's always a bad idea to tell someone like us 'you can't do this' because that just means we're gonna.

I was told "you won't graduate from highschool," and "You'll never lead a normal life" because of my health problems.

Look at me now, I graduated first in my class from highschool and went on to get a college degree and then a graduate degree, and now I live in Korea.

So, you will definitely lose that weight. Go on to rub their collective noses in your triumph. It feels really really good!

Outside of my 2 year old daughter and health reasons and well vanity, my motivation to get healthy and lose all of my weight came from something a doctor said to me the other day. I had to go to ER the other night with some shortness of breathe and tightness in chest, all of the bloodwork and blood pressure, ekg, etc all came back very normal.

This was a shock to the doctor as I guess he figured being I weigh 445 pounds I must be unhealthy in all aspects. Anyway as we were wrapping up a conversation, a conversation that included him asking me if I could walk, also included him seeming surprised I had a job being I was so big, he then asked me if I thought about surgery to lose weight because as he put it "Surgery is my only option to lose the weight".

I was embarrased and upset and told him I do not need surgery and will do it on my own and thus why I am starting today. Of course thats not the main reason I am doing this but it sure did get me motivated to prove him wrong. I understand he is a DR and they are supposed to know best, but he knew me for all of 2 minutes. I am used to getting stares from people and comments from little kids about my size, but this really pissed me off. Anyway I will take any motiviation I can get to keep me focused. I have to lose this weight, there is no turning back.
