To always have a back-up plan. It's true in most everything in life.

When the Street Lights go on, get in the House.

What would the Neighbors think. To this day I don't care what they think!!

To this day my mom and dad tell me to do a kind deed for someone daily. My mom is 84 and my dad is 88.

My mom as a kid use to say I was getting so fat (when I look back at the pictures I wasn't fat, I was healthy looking) that I'd blow away so watchout on a windy day..... I use to avoid going out on windy days because I thought I'd actually blow away emoticon

LadyCJM my dad told me that too.

My dad also told me that if I was going to dish it out I had better be able to take it. (This was after I called another girl a name or something. And she had a better comeback and I ran home crying)

My dad (mom died very young) told me cursing is a sign of a small, uneducated mind. That intelligent, educated people could find a better way to express their feelings.

Mom always told me to never go to bed angry and always clean up your mess as you are cooking or baking because having to clean up a ton of stuff when you are all finished with the meal makes for a long night in the kitchen. She told me tons of other stuff, but those two things are the ones I repeat most often. She told me to always educate myself so that I don't have to depend on others. Always hug kids tight and often and never use love as leverage. She also taught me to never trust a man who talks down to me. I have followed her advice and have three great sons who love hugs and a wonderful husband who would never dream of talking down women. One of these days he will learn to clean up as he goes. emoticon

My Mom (R.I.P.) was 4' 11" and mean but not to me and I love her with my all my heart to this very day and eternity.

She left us about 8 years ago and her words/advice/tales of caution are still with me, she'd say things like, "You know, as an ethnicity not indigenous to this area [no, seriously, she never had formal post high school training but spoke just like this] you will have to work twice as hard to be recognized in anything you do." This was so true and still is today.

She would speak her mind and then would actually QUALIFY what she said unlike some folks today who blurt and run. She taught me that detergent makes water wetter so that the water tension would relax and be able to go through clothes to wash out the dirt so brand name soaps weren't necessary.

She would tell me that school district schedules are based off of school bus availability runs.....it's true, that's why kids start at different times of the morning rather than all at once unless their all on the same campus and are a huge school district.

She had passed on a lot of wisdom to me as I'm sure your Mom or Dad have to you, please share some of that wisdom they bestowed upon you.
