Welcome to SparkPeople!!! You are in the right place. When I began, I had 199 pounds to lose! Yep that is A LOT!!! I have lost almost 40 pounds and feel great! I still have lots to lose but I know that I am in the right place to reach my goal! You can do it! Getting involved in teams is a great thing as you can interact with people who are where you are or have been there. There are so many great people out there that are willing to offer support and encouragement. Tracking is a HUGE thing. You really need to track your food and exercise. The trackers are so helpful and when you track, you can check the reports and see your progress (not only the number on the scale). Give me a holla if you have questions or just need to talk!

I'm kind of well on my way, I think. I haven't seen my mom in 6 weeks and she said I look thinner :)

My name is Sarah and I’ve been a member of this site off and on for a few years, and I do love it. I was here a few years back and lost 20 pounds, then went away and stopped using the site and gained all that weight back.

I have tried other diets and found that what I truly love about SparkPeople is the community, I believe it really helps keep you on track. Utilize the community here, add friends, join teams and challenges and post to the message boards.

We should start a Century Team or something.
100 seemed daunting.
Stick to it. Set the fast break goals. That helped me get started. You can do anything for 1-2 weeks, right? Once you start hitting some of those goals, you'll start seeing/feeling results.

100 doesn't seem so daunting when it's down to 97. Then before you know it, it's 94. Or 90, and you're 10% there!

Hello! I'm an 18 year old first year college student and I'm looking to lose 180 pounds to be healthy to start my life. I want to be a geologist, and I don't want to be huffing and puffing while trying to do my job. I also want to be around for any children I have. This is only my third day doing Sparkpeople, but I'm well on my way :)

Congrats on taking the first step into changing your life to a more healthier one by joining the site. Spark is filled with amazing people that will motivate, support and encourage you on your journey. There is so much to learn and discover here, take this one day at a time. A couple of things I would like to suggestion to make you Spark experience a great one.

1. Make goals for yourself. Each month I make a list of what I want to accomplish that month and break them down to smaller goals to work with week by week. This way the BIG picture doesn't seem so big.

2. Join Spark teams. There are tons of teams here and you will be able to find ones that fit to what you like or want in a team.

The key to success here is to be active and you've already started by joining. You will find that everyone is willing to help you out if you need it. Spark friends are here for support, motivation and encouragement. Good luck on your journey to a healthier lifestyle! Again, welcome to the SP family!

Hi Beaamaya's i too have over 100 pounds to loose. This is my first time to get on this site i saw it advertised in the Good Housekeeping magazine an thought why not what have i got to loose but weight. I am practical person n i know that it is going to be a lot of work but me n u a the others can do this. I want to be an encouragement to u when u get down u hang in there God will take us all the way to a healthy us.I live in Arkansas not far from Ft. Smith my husband to is retired an on disability he has Parkinson's. I am unemployed from my job now for the last little over a year. I am 57 in a few weeks have back problems an realize that finding work will be a challenge. It would be easy for me to get depressed but i am not going to do that God has been to good to me. I enjoy reading, crocheting watching television. My weakness are eating to much fast food. That is going to stop with me making healthier choices. Hopefully i have not run u off i want to be ur new friend an work on getting thinner together

7/15/12 11:56 P name is Bea and this is my first time here. I am starting my healthy lifestyle program tomorrow by first focusing on my nutrition. I have a LOT of weight to lose and a LONG way to go, but figure this is a good place to start. Here's a little more, random stuff, about me:
* I live in Texas now after 3 years of living abroad in a wild and exciting place, Papua New Guinea
* I am 52 years old, mother to 3 girls, grandmother to 7 (6 of them girls), and great-grandmother to one boy
* My husband is retired, but I am not ready for that yet. I run my own business in Houston.
* I am currently working on my PhD in Technical Communication.

Looking forward to meeting more folks, engaging in more sharing, and LOSING WEIGHT!
