You haven't chosen to share those specific foods yet, which can be done from your nutrition tracker page (if you have fully set up your account -- I believe yesterday when I checked, you hadn't fully set up your account yet, so you won't have access to that page or options until you do that). But once you do that, this page has info on how to share foods that you manually enter: www.sparkpeople.com/community/help_answer.
asp?id=12
. Once you do that, it will be listed in the member entered section of the food database where other members can search.

Denise - you just made my day! I'm so happy they aren't gone after the work to create them! Any reason why they wouldn't be added to the central database so others could leverage them? Is it because the recipe is not shared?

When you are in the add a food screen, near the bottom of that window there is an area that says "add from favorites" and a drop-down menu is next to it, which is where you can select it for other recipes. It looks like that item is listed there. emoticon

Here are the steps:

I logged into http://recipes.sparkpeople.com/
Select recipe calculator
started adding ingredients
when I couldn't find what I wanted, I chose the link to Enter a Food Not Listed
Entered the name (Flour, bread, unbleached, King Arthur)
Entered the Nutritional Information
Selected Save Food button at the top of the page.

Here's the truly weird thing. When I open my recipe using one of these ingredients and, under Nutritional Info, click on the View full nutritional breakdown link, the ingredient shows up there, but when I search for "Bread flour, unbleached, King Arthur", it's not returned in the search results or any of the others I entered.

It's fine for you to have them in your recipe box on here, but not share them since they are copyrighted. So you did the right thing there! emoticon

In regards to the ingredients you added and aren't showing up, can you give me more details about how you added those?

Hello and thanks in advance for any help.

I painstakingly entered a bunch of new specific baking ingredients in the recipe calculator to accurately determine the nutritional information for several bread recipes from a cookbook I purchased.

I searched for them to add them to my recipe calculator and they aren't showing up. I get all the others, but not the ones I added.

The recipes are not public because they are out of a cookbook. Does that make any difference? I am not about to dishonor anyone's copyrights.
