How many months? If more than 12 mon. then a visit to the dr. may be in order.
And yes, hormonal changes very much affect the body--even small shifts. But don't let the scale be your guide right now. And if you've been doing things "for the health of it" your body will come back around and land in a better place. Don't give up!

Having been there myself (you are not alone and I sympathize), I agree with Olga. Don't let this get you down. It will go away, unless it was not water weight to begin with. But it sounds like you've been working hard and eating OK as you gave no indication otherwise.
Don't let this get you down!!!! Also, while it can be difficult to motivate, I found exercise to be one of the very best things to do when I was struggling ... it always helped my frame of mind.
So ... maybe you can just not weigh for awhile, ignore the scale for a few weeks, but make sure you're tracking your eating. Look for other ways than the scale, which is not always our friend.

So technically you are perimenopausal, not menopausal. I could gain as much as 7 pounds of water weight during my period which disappeared after. Ignore it and just stay on a healthy eating and exercise plan. Going through menopause is not a joy ride and staying on that healthy path will go a long way towards helping you deal with it. Hang in there.
Can menopause and hormone changes in my body affect my weight? After months of not having my period...It returned...along with about 9lbs of what feels like water weight gain. It lasted a week and then was gone for 2 weeks and returned un expectedly...the water retention has remained the whole time. Now I feel like I have to start all over again...I lost all the ground I had gained in my weight loss.
