Recap of September.
I lost 8 pounds, exercised for over 2000 minutes, increased the weight lifted to over 40,000 pounds a session, regularly used the stationary bike at the gym, walked more than 10 miles a week for 3 out of 4 weeks. It has been a good month. As of today I exceed my yearly goal for fitness minutes by nearly 3000 minutes. I don't know how the yearly goal was decided but I exceed my weekly quota every week. I have changed my exercise program to reflect what I do but it seems to have little effect on the yearly goal. I want to lose 10 pounds by Dec 1. I want to lose another pound or two in December so that I start 2012 in one-derland!

Second night in a row that I was more or less able to sleep through. But my DH decided to say good morning at 5:45 because he forgot that DD did not have school today because of Jewish holidays. sigh...
I completed day 3 of the 5 k training but was short on exercise minutes for the September challenge, so after that I walked for 30 more minutes. Total of 72 minutes today. I also am working on laundry so have been up and down steps a half dozen times. I am making pasta sauce and rather that just take the calories off the SP search, decided to put in my recipe and calculate the calories of my pasta sauce. Am glad I did since my sauce has almost half the calories of the purchased sauces.
Picked all the tomatoes left on my dying vines. The ones that are going to ripen we will eat as fresh tomatoes. The green ones will go into green tomato chutney. We like chutney.
Anyway right now my legs are not just unhappy with me they are screaming at the top of their lungs. I did too much. Oh well.

Did not get up at 4 today for the first time in 3 days. I still woke up too many times but at least I fell asleep again. Went out with friends for breakfast, kept calories under control. Had a salad for lunch then went out to the gym and did my weights and stationary bike. 41500 on weights and I was in aerobic range on bike using program 1. Created a new curry for dinner. Was pretty good. Chicken, sweet potatoes onions red pepper, peas, coconut milk and hot curry paste. Served with rice, green tomato chutney and flaked coconut. Will do it again. I am sort of tired and will go to bed early. My sebaceous cyst is red and painful. Will talk to Dr on Friday about it. If it is going to hurt I might as well have it removed. Now that is a way to lose a few grams emoticon

Walked on the treadmill today. The goal for day 2 of the 3rd week of 5k training was to walk for 2 miles. I did that in just over 31 minutes. Then I walked another .76 miles for a total of 2.76 miles in 43 minutes. I am having good results with using dates to increase my fiber and it is easier to take than metamucil. The weather still is muggy an cloudy. Probably the biggest reason I don't sleep well. I am really tired of waking up ant 3 in the morning.

It's Monday morning, I am groggy from not enough sleep. I keep waking up around 3 in the morning in a sweat. Then I can't fall asleep again. Sigh...
I've changed my smoothie recipe. I am using 6 dates (120 calories) as my 2nd fruit. So it is now a banana and date yogurt smoothie. This puts 8 grams of fiber in my diet. About a third of my daily requirement.
Today I am going to stretch, do my weight routine and bicycle for 30 minutes. I will come back and edit this later. Got my exercise in, cooked dinner, cleaned up and am now going to bed. I;ll probably get up too early but I am exhausted.

We decided to go to Bare Bones for dinner. Haven't been in probably a year. They have a Sunday night special that is to die for. A half rack of ribs and a quarter of chicken 2 sides and a dessert for $17.00. The ribs are the best in town. So how will it fit in my diet? Not very well, but this is how I am handling it. I will box the chicken for Tuesday nights dinner. I will allow myself the corn fritters (they are luscious), my other side will be low calorie. According to my web search (since it is not a chain, I can't get real calorie counts) a half rack of ribs is about 500 calories, the corn fritters are about 400 calories, the dessert will probably be about 500 calories, the low calorie side will come in at under 200 calories. The only other food I have eaten today is a banana date yogurt smoothie and coffee (450 calories) for at total of 2150 which exceeds my calories by 340 calories. By keeping to the low end of calories for the next 3-4 days my overall average calories will be within range. And we get to enjoy one of my favorite restaurants emoticon .
I did my stretches today, picked 3 new ones and did 2 sets of toe touches. Didn't work off a lot of calories but my legs are burning from yesterday's walk so I decided to go easy today. Tomorrow I will walk on treadmill for 30 minutes and do ST at the gym with stationary bike. I am doing fine. Need to lose 2 pounds by October 1 to stay on track for the 25 pound by Dec 1 challenge.. emoticon Here I come!

I added two stretching sessions to my routine. I did one this morning and one this afternoon. By the time I am done I am panting. The big news is that 2 of the stretches are on the ground and I can get up from the ground only using my hands!!! I haven't been able to do that in years. emoticon I also added a fiber tracker to my nutrition tracker. I am having constipation issues and wanted to see if I was getting enough fiber. The answer is no. I added one serving of dates to my diet (fiber 8 g. 120 calories) It got my fiber intake into the acceptable range. DH and I went walking around the neighborhood. We did the 2.28 miles in 40 minutes, faster than ever before. So all in all I am doing pretty well. Because I did not exercise the first 3 days of this week, I did not reach my exercise goals for the week. I also did not walk 10 miles this week. My streak is broken. I will do better next week. emoticon here I come.

Got all my exercise in. I walked for a continuous 30 minutes on my treadmill. That was day 3 of week 2 of my 5 k training. I completed 1.92 miles. After lunch I went to the gym and did my weight routine. 17 machines 40,600 pounds total. Then I rode the stationary bike for 30 minutes. For the first time I used a bike program and my heart rate was constantly in the aerobic range! It wasn't noticeably harder than I was using the manual program. It is really hard for me to cycle fast enough to get to aerobic levels but the program must make the workout more effective somehow. And since I was on my favorite bike, it definitely was not a bike issue. I came home and fixed breaded pork chops. I put my recipe into the recipe file and calculated the calories. I really like my pork chops I brown them in a little olive oil, then finish them off in the oven for 30 minutes. They come out really great. I weighed my pork chops on my nutrition scale and a 350 calorie raw chop with the breading turns into a 488 calorie pork chop. But it is so yummy. I served it with corn cauliflower and carrots. I also had cantaloupe and grapes for a total of 777 calories. My calorie total for the day was 1553 calories. mid range for my calorie counts. The only thing was after dinner I was still very hungry so I had to get my mind off food. I finally started to chew sugarless gum until I was no longer hungry. I drank 13 glasses of water today. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon here I come!

Did my walk this morning in 2 segments. I first walked to 31 minutes to achieve the 2 miles I needed to finish week 2 of the 5 K training. I am about a week behind in training because I will receive a notice on Monday that I am in week 4 and I haven't started week 3. I think I will do the first week 3 session tomorrow morning rather than taking it off. Then I will do the 2nd one either Sat or Sun and the last one early next week. The 2nd segment after a short rest and 16 ounces of water, was 20 minutes and I walked 1.28 miles. The SP system says I did both segments at a 16 min mile pace. (actually it was more like 15.6 minute mile) Anyway I have achieved my goal of walking a 16 minute mile! emoticon
Now if my legs and knees would stop complaining. emoticon emoticon Here I come.
I officially have no shorts that are not too big and a number of them I can slip over my hips without being unfastened.

Got through the day. Did the laundry went to the gym and did my weight circuit. Did not have a lot of energy and eased off a little. Lifted 1000 pounds less than last Friday, My arms just can't seem to get any stronger. Did fine on the core and legs. Bicycled for only 20 minutes. There was nothing on TV that I wanted to watch and I didn't feel that great but I did make myself do 20 minutes. Fixed chicken tacos for dinner. They were OK but family prefers my tacos. Win some lose some. I am tired and plan to go to bed soon. I wonder if I would have felt better if the weather wasn't so gloomy. Tomorrow is a new day.
I plan to walk 2 miles for the 5k training. Then if I am feeling good I will walk more.

My BF's birthday celebration is done. I have been so busy the last few days that I put exercise last. The party was a lot of fun. I made her favorite Quiche Lorraine and German Chocolate Cake. They were delicious but could be called a heart attack on a plate. Thank-fully my Cardiologist gave me a good result on my echocardiogram on Monday. So the party is over, I've had a good time and tomorrow I get back to normal. After 3 days of not exercising, tomorrow I go to the gym and do my ST.

I am taking it easy this weekend. Yesterday I walked the 1.75 miles I needed to complete the 2nd session of week 2 training for a 5 K. I went over my calorie count yesterday because I fried and totally enjoyed home fries and crab cakes. My scale may not be happy but my morale had a great time emoticon . Today I am back to low cal. Fixed southwestern chicken salad over spinach as my main meal. Relatively low cal and yummy. Had a peach and banana yogurt smoothie for breakfast. DD and I are going beading this afternoon and this evening will probably be the chicken revisited. The weather has really gotten cold and that is making my joints ache. I can feel my neck and ankle. It is not too bad and I can resist the urge to take ibuprophen. This is the first fall in years that I am not on an ibuprophen in the morning to keep aches in check streak. My Gerd issues have moderated since I dropped back to one cup of coffee and no ibuprophen.

Somehow missed yesterday. It was a busy day. I walked 3.56 miles in the AM. I did it in 56 minutes. The first 1.56 miles were done in 25 continuous miles as part of my 5 K training. I then took a water break and walked the next 31 minutes with a 2nd water break after 18 minutes. I then cleaned up and got ready for a luncheon for my friends birthday. Went to a wine bar (her choice) none of us had wine and the other members of the group like the food there. It was my first time. The food was eminently forgettable. The omelet I ordered was swimming in grease. I am really sparing with oil and butter so it was too greasy for my taste. The killer is that the omelet was the healthiest thing on the menu. After lunch I went to pick up DD for her Dr. appointment. She and I did Subway for dinner. I got my favorite chicken teriyaki sub (410 calories with cheese). After the Dr. appointment we were stuck in gridlocked city traffic. Took 1 1/2 hours to do a 30 minute trip. I took her to dance and I went to back to school night at her school. I got home at 9:30, read for a while and went to bed.

Today I washed windows in the AM. In the PM I went to the gym and did my weight routine and 20 minutes on the stationary bike. Dinner was a hamburger, left-over rice, corn and black bean salad and watermelon. I was under allowance for fat and protein so I treated myself to 6 dark chocolate covered almonds (130 calories) They were very satisfying and my fat and calories came in on the lower end of my dietary requirements emoticon

It was a pretty good day. I did my Y work out. All 17 machines. I lifted 40000 pounds, did better on Monday by 500 pounds but I got tired on some of the machines. I spent 45 minutes on the stationary bike and averaged 15 mph. Came home and got dinner. Tried 2 new recipes. We liked both of them but not together. One was from SP it was a flounder roll that should have had spinach and feta but since I did not have feta I substituted a grated italian cheese blend. DH and I like it but DD only like the spinach because she "does not like fish only shellfish". The other food was a rice black bean and corn salad that I got off the internet. It is a dump salad and was tasty but too spicy to go with the fish. I had left over rice that I wanted to use so I tried this salad. 2 cups rice, can of black beans, can of corn, and a diced jalapeņo. The dressing was chili powder cumin lime juice and 1 T of olive oil. A cup of salad was about 200 calories and a fish roll was about 200 calories. So I have eaten my 3 meals today and I still need to eat 200 calories. I did not have enough fat, calories or carbohydrates. I guess I will treat myself to ice cream later. I have some blue bunny mini ice cream cones that are only 140 calories. That might give me enough fat. I have to be careful and eat enough fat because I am having constipation issues. I have been taking metamucil and really drinking a ton of water. I am up to 14 glasses today and am feeling really thirsty. Such problems I have emoticon

Walked 3.5 miles in 55 minutes today. Cut a minute off last weeks time. I am now tired. I don't sleep well anymore wake up several times every night. Generally because I am warm. I hope to be able to turn the AC off later this week. Then I will keep window open all night and see if that helps. The AV doesn't come on at night but the house is a bit warm. DD is always cold so I don't want to drop the temperature. The highs later this week are only supposed to be low 70's. Fall has finally begun to show up.
I am not cooking today since we have a little of this and a little of that. So we are having Anatevka night and clearing out the Fridge. I am having salad for lunch and I had a smoothie for breakfast.
I need to pay bills and work on cleaning the house. Next week I am hosting a birthday luncheon for my best friend. She is turning 60.
I also have to see what I can have done about the sink hole in the back yard. emoticon

Wish there was a way to change the title of this journal. Kind of silly to still call it Day 1. On the other hand every day is the start of the rest of my life so I guess it is OK. Had a good day today. Went to BJ's and Costco this morning. Pretty much I stuck to my list. Did get some coupon items but their more for my DD than DH or myself. I treated myself to a Costco berry berry yogurt sundae. I haven't had one all summer. It is frozen vanilla yogurt with strawberries (and sugar). Yeah technically junk food but it does have protein and calcium. And it tastes sooo good. I called it my lunch. At around 400 calories, not unreasonable. After I put the groceries away, I filled my water bottle and went to the gym. I did my 17 machines and lifted just shy of 41000 pounds! emoticon I also rode the stationary bike for 40 minutes ave speed 14.5 mph. O and this morning I walked 1 mile in 16 minutes for my 5 K training. This morning I also got an email telling me that I was in week 2 of 5 k training. I still have to do one more week 1 training so I guess I will have to give up on having a day off between trainings. I do think that when you join the training you should be given a whole week on week 1 and not 3 days. But since week 1 training is very easy I won't complain too much. Then for dinner I made Italian sausages with peppers and onions. Yum. I estimated that 1 T of olive oil went into my portion and even with the sausage and the sundae and the fried veggies I was on the low side for fat and calories. So I treated myself to the last Gudrun chocolate that I got for my birthday. I shared most of the box with family and my birthday was months ago so I think I did pretty well. emoticon

DH did not want to walk this morning. He has difficulty walking two days in a row. At first I thought well a day off will be OK for me too. Then I thought tomorrow is weigh-in and I want good news. So I did my neighborhood walk by myself. I really pushed and shave 2 minutes off my time! emoticon Got back in time to wake up DD and get ready for church. So I have the first 2.28 miles in on this weeks 10 miles. I will do this I can do this I will succeed. If Nick Vujicic
can get up I can lose my excess weight!

Food will be a bit tough today. I had a reasonable breakfast shredded wheat with extra bran (1 cup) with banana and almond milk, but I had 2 cups of coffee so my total calories were 404. For lunch for a 2nd day I ate a sandwich emoticon . I love Italian cold cuts and I don't buy them often. It was on Rye bread and I used 2 slices of capicola, .65 ounce of soppresata, and four slices of thin sliced prosciutto. I skipped the cheese but the calorie count for lunch was 505 calories. Tonight I am fixing Linguine with braciola, meatballs and Italian sausage with a salad and fruit. I know that 2 ounces of linguine is a serving but that will not be enough to satisfy me. I usually eat 4 ounces. I usually have a piece of braciola and as long as I limit myself to 3 ounces or less and have only 1 slice of watermelon, I will barely make it at the top of my calorie range. I find making the Good Seasons Salad dressing I like with half the oil is satisfying so 2 T of salad dressing is only 65 calories. It is OK to be at the top end occasionally but I really need to not do Italian for both lunch and dinner.

Well it is an end to a rainy sun deprived week. The light in my tunnel is that I walked over 10 miles this week. That is 4 weeks in a row! Yesterday I lifted weights and got up to 39000 pounds in the circuit, a record for me. After 2 off days early in the week I have been within calorie range all week with yesterday and Thursday allowing me to have a piece of chocolate to put me within my calorie counts and give me enough fat for the day. Boy do I love meals that are mostly vegetables and spices. They are satisfying and if the protein is seafood very low cal. Admittedly I have to watch the cholesterol when having eggs or shrimp.
I signed up for a 5k virtual race at the end of October so I am going to start the SP training program this week. I don't want to disrupt what I am already doing so I will add it to what I do. After all every calorie expended is one that does not settle on my hips!

Rain Rain go away. We have gotten over 8 inches in 2 days so far and today is supposed to be as bad as yesterday. Rain is in the forecast all through the next weekend. I am currently just chilling. I am planning to walk on the treadmill later. According to yesterdays challenge I need to do FIIT. (didn't do it yesterday because by the time I looked at the challenge I had already done my weights and stationary bike). Today I am going to fix Flounder Veracruz , the recipe called for Tilapia but I have flounder and I don't have tilapia. It is a new recipe so I will see how the family likes it. I think I got the recipe from SP since it is a Family Circle recipe. I am trying to add more seafood to our weekly menu's. DD is not thrilled because she is fine with shellfish but not fond of fish.
My neck is better today, I really wish it would stop hurting. The damp weather probably doesn't help. At least I have almost full motion today.
I am almost through this week and I have not built this weeks menu yet. Not usually this bad. On the other hand I haven't gone grocery shopping this week either so we are using food I already have in the house. When I sit and write the menu, I will make it to go through next week. That way when I go for produce tomorrow, I will buy for the whole week. Tomorrow I will fix Shrimp coconut curry. It is a menu I adapted and submitted to SP. It uses up the half can of coconut milk that was left over when I fixed the chicken curry last night, and the cabbage I have left over from the cabbage and apple salad.

Back on track today. Did my weights and rode stationary bike for 35 minutes. Made a favorite chicken curry for dinner. Cut the fat by half. Being careful with oil and butter and cutting the coconut milk by half allowed it to fit my calorie count. It was yummy. Overate 2 days in a row. But since I planned to for one day and was only slightly over the 2nd I give myself a pass for those 2 days. The rest of the week I will be sticking to my diet better. It has been raining cats & dogs for 2 days so the neighborhood walk is out.

Day started well. DH and I did the neighborhood walk. We forgot to check the time before we started so assumed we did it as fast as we usually do. So that was 45 minutes of aerobic. We went to mass at noon and helped advertise the youth group which starts next Sunday. We came home and had lunch. Then I made a cabbage apple salad for dinner. The dressing is olive oil balsamic vinegar, cider vinegar, spicy mustard and honey. There is shredded cabbage, sliced apples, craisins, and toasted pecans. Quite yummy with lots of fiber.
Then I worked on the naughty food. I made a tiramisu for tomorrow which needed egg yolks. I now had egg whites which I turned into chocolate meringues. The family is coming tomorrow and although I will track, I have given myself permission to exceed my calorie counts. I have been very good recently so in the grand scheme of things it will be OK Tomorrow morning is weigh-in time so I will have a whole week to work off the excess from tomorrow afternoon.
DH and I have already decided we will start tomorrow with a trip to the gym. emoticon
Now all I have to do is ignore the luscious smell of the meringues!

Had an active day. DH and I tried to get our neighborhood walk in but it was clear half way through that the rain would not let us, so we cut off a leg of the trip & headed home. We still did not make it home before it poured so we were standing under a tree waiting for it to stop when a lady came out of her house and invited us in. What a sweet lady. After the rain stopped we went on home. Later we went to look at stone for the walk I plan to build in my new garden. I then went for groceries for the weekend. We have the kids coming for dinner on Monday. I then fixed dinner. We had a cheeseburger on a roll with a fresh ear of corn and watermelon for dessert. My calorie count for the day is on target but if I did not take a multivitamin and a calcium pill daily, my calcium intake is low. I met my protein requirements but just barely. That puzzles me. I consider myself a carnivore but I am frequently on the low side for protein. I am now in two challenges. One is the lose 25 lbs by Dec. 1 challenge that Bluetat2 started. The other is the log your exercise minutes for the month challenge. I am planning on doing 2000 minutes of exercise this month. So far I am doing OK. Of course it helps that my DH and I are trying to walk 45 minutes most days. Didn't make it today. I only walked 37 minutes. emoticon Here I come

Had a busy day. Went to an Italian Deli with friends and bought a some of my favorite coldcuts. Had a small sandwich at lunch with olives. Then I went to the gym and worked out. I rode a stationary bike for 20 minutes. Then I did my weight circuit. Lifted a total of 34000 lbs on 17 machines. After dinner DH and I walked our neighborhood. A 2.28 mile walk in 45 minutes. My calorie count is within range so I am doing well. I am undecided about adjusting my fitness goals. I am working out a lot more than my fitness goals but I am unsure I can maintain this pace.

Got my walk in on the treadmill. Did 3 miles in 50 minutes, a very good time for me especially since when I started I wasn't sure I could walk more than 30 minutes since I had knee and ankle problems this week. But I did it! emoticon Had my favorite breakfast this morning a Greek yogurt, almond milk and fruit smoothie. The fruit this time was plums and banana. Yum!
It's only 11 AM so I still have the bulk of the day ahead of me. DD is in school and DH is coming home early so we can go pick up some furniture for DD bedroom. So I will be helping to move furniture today. Does that count toward's exercise? Probably not but it will cost me a few calories. emoticon here I come

Woke up this morning with a painful knee. I was limping. My SIL came over to use our shower because they are still electric free. Hopefully they will have it back by Friday. I invited them over for dinner. I was going to make onion and zucchini fritata anyway and they are vegetarians so they could eat it. I went to the gym and did my workout and rode the stationary bike. That helped my knee feel better. When I got home I made two fritatas because we ended up being 6 for dinner because my DS came to take his food out of my freezer so I invited him to stay for dinner. We had the fritata, crusty bread. a cheese tray, hummus and pita chips and fresh fruit. I had a small cube of provolone cheese but did not have hummus or pita chips. I limited myself to one slice of bread. My calorie count for the day was over 100 calories short of my minimum. My cholesterol levels were high because of the eggs in the fritata. I am not hungry now so I may just undereat today. Since yesterday I was on the high side for calories it will even out

Walk last night ended up being short because we stopped to watch a downed wire burning in a tree. The fire dept came but they didn't do anything because the electric company prefers to take care of downed wires. So we stood around watching the wire flare up and die down for half an hour. We then took a shortened walk because it was getting late.
Today I went to a friends 50th birthday breakfast. I had a mushroom spinach and tomato omelet, fruit, coffee and rye toast. The omelet came with hash browns which I love but I left them on the plate. emoticon After the breakfast (it was a 2 1/2 hour breakfast) I came home and tracked my meal. Because it was such a large number of calories I had just lettuce and tomato salad for lunch with a plum and of course water. Dinner was problematic because I finally made the pasta that I intended to make on Sunday. I love pasta and 2 ounces is a taste not a meal. So I had 4 ounces of linguine with homemade sauce (my mom's recipe) 100 grams of bracciola, lettuce with vinaigrette, and a slice of watermelon. It was a squeaker but I came just under my calorie allowance. On the positive side, I spent 90 minutes gardening, pulling weeds and spreading mulch in my new side garden. It was hot and sweaty but I got a fair bit done. Then after dinner DH and I went for a 45 minute walk. So all in all a successful day.

Yesterday was electricity free day due to the hurricane emoticon . DH and I walked up to the highway to check if the traffic lights worked. They did but we did not get our power back until 2 o'clock this morning. At least we got it back. DS is still without so he is here studying and will have dinner with us. His ground beef that thawed turned into taco filling. Not the menu I planned but we don't believe in waste so plans are changing.
I went to the gym today did my weight circuit and 35 minutes on the stationary bike. Today was weigh in and I lost 2 pounds last week emoticon . I am on target to meet the 25 pounds by Dec 1 challenge. Feeling good but constantly thirsty. I am drinking up to 10 glasses of water each day but seem to be always thirsty.
If I can talk DH into it we will walk the neighborhood tonight.

DH and I did our neighborhood walk before the onslaught of rain and wind. I clocked 10.69 miles this week. emoticon . Now am baking celebratory zucchini bread. At 170 calories a slice I will need to be careful but if I use lemon curd for my spread I can have 2 slices for breakfast and still not exceed 400 calories. The zucchini and the walnuts are good nourishment. And tomorrow is Sunday a day of rest. emoticon

Went to the gym today. Did my weight circuit and rode the stationary bike for 35 minutes. Its the last day that my DD can join me since school starts on Monday barring any disruption due to Irene. I like going with DD but she does mess up my concentration with her questions. Made the Zucchini and Potato pancakes that were featured today. I made some changes to the recipe but I though they were pretty good. My zucchini had to be a lot larger than the one they used so I worked up the calorie count using my nutrition scale. Boy do I love that thing. Anyway I added both salt and pepper to the recipe, a second egg and a quarter cup of flour since it seemed so watery. I got 14 pancakes and felt 2 were ample for a side serving. The calorie count was 102 for 2 pancakes and it was a nice addition to our BLT dinner. My food counts were on the low side of my allowance and my fat was midrange even with BLT as my main course WooHoo. Its great to eat real food.

Left ankle bothered me today when I was on the treadmill so I slacked off on the speed until it didn't hurt and only walked 2 miles. I had hoped to walk 3 at a faster speed but I don't want to mess up my ankle any more than it is already. Tomorrow I will only do the stationary bike and will stay off the ankle.

Walked 2.75 miles today. Went grocery shopping and fixed Southwester chicken salad over a bed of fresh spinach for dinner. Thought I would talk my DH into walking the neighborhood tonight bit he was not interested and since my legs are sore it is easy not to make myself go out alone. I have walked 5 miles this week so I guess I am doing OK.

Great day today. The scale showed that I had lost 5 lbs over the past week. emoticon Last weekend I walked on both Saturday and Sunday. I usually give myself the weekend off. Today I went to the gym and lifted 33,000 lbs as well as rode the stationary bike for 55 minutes at a 15 mile per hour pace. I kept my calories under control and drank 12 glasses of water. I am feeling pretty good. emoticon

I am so hungry. A year ago I would eat because it was mealtime. Now I frequently feel hunger. I am working on a glass of water to make the hunger go away, Dinner is in 30 minutes and I have no calories to spare. What's funny is that my fat intake will be below allowance. All the fault of those delectable figs and cherries I guess. I really love fruit and my fig tree is ripening right now. I actually had more protein at lunch time than usual since my salad had 4 oz of left over ahni tuna on it instead of my usual chickpeas. Water is almost gone and the hunger has gotten less intense.

Great Day! My DH and I walked this morning for 45 minutes. Got 2 birds with one stone. Got DH to walk for the first time in weeks and I achieved 10 miles of walking this week . emoticon I fixed one of my favorite meals and although I exceeded todays calorie count when I average it into the past week the average for the week was 100 calories below my allowance. It is great to be able to eat foods that I "should not eat" while on a diet and still be OK. This is all about a long time living system and not yoyo dieting while feeling deprived. Tomorrow I am making a chicken curry which will be well within my calorie allowance. Life is good.

I did it! Five days in a row of either walking or the gym. Feeling really good. My friend commented at lunch that my face looked really smooth and asked if I was wearing make-up. So between the exercise, diet and vitamins I have started taking my complexion is so improved that my friend noticed a difference. I have been noticing that the skin on my arms and legs has felt softer and less rough. Must be doing something right. emoticon

Achieved my goal for today. Walked at 17 minute mile for 55 minutes. My left calf wasn't very happy with me but it has calmed down. Tomorrow is a gym day. I will do my weight circuit and ride the stationary bike for at least an half hour. I may do 20 minutes on the elliptical if I feel like it. Then comes the weekend, I usually take weekends off but I may do some gardening this weekend.

Had a good day. Lifted just over 24,000 lbs during my weight circuit. Spent 20 minutes on the elliptical and 10 minutes on the stationary bike. My legs don't ache tonight. Fixed a really yummy dinner. Grilled marinated shrimp and grilled marinated veggies with fruit for desert. I just missed reaching my calories for today but I am full and content. I probably should adjust my yearly goals for exercise because I have almost reached my yearly goals and I have only been keeping track for about 7 weeks. All in all life is good.

Just ran my nutrition report. Dinner was BLT's corn and fruit. I used real mayonnaise and real bacon. Lunch was my standard salad with carrots, jicama, scallions, chick peas, cucumber and Good Seasons Italian dressing made with 1/2 the oil. Couldn't believe it I have left over calories and I just met my fat allowance. I am going to a meet and greet with the new principal tonight so I may have something there. but I should still be on the low side of my calorie count today. My exercise is up since I forced myself to walk 55 minutes. Boy I really wanted to stop at 35 minutes, but if I am going to increase my stamina I simply have to walk longer than 35 minutes. All in all I am happy right now. I just wish my legs weren't so tired.

Well got back on track today. Went to the gym and did my weight circuit. Was feeling pretty godd when I was done. Walked this afternoon but stopped after the first 2 miles. I was tired and it was time to stop. I will do better tomorrow. Calories were under control and I ended the day with leftove calories, Got all 10 glasses of water in and I will probably drink another 1 or 2 before I go to bed. Have to wash out the excess salt from the weekend :-). So all in all a good start at the new week.

Yesterday was a day with too many calories but lots of fun. I enjoyed picking crabs with my extended family. The beer was cold and the desserts were yummy. Yesterday was a day to just enjoy being alive and a change from the regular routine. Today will likely be more of the same since we are celebrating my youngest child's birthday by a D&D marathon with chocolate cheesecake and nachos. Her picks for food. Nachos are a rare treat and I only make chocolate cheesecake for her brother's and her birthday, so that's twice a year. Tomorrow is a fresh start and this weekend will only tell my body that it is definitely not starving ;-)

At this point my garden is still a vision in my head. I have started killing the grass on the edges and will start there by transplanting plants from the front of the house that need a less steamy spot to grow. I need to dig out the area that will be my path through the area and lay down stepping stones. I anticipate it taking a minimum of a year to get it where I think I want it because the labor will be mine. But my vision is something that I will enjoy when it is done. Work will start in earnest when the weather cools down. We have had a hot steamy summer.

Way to go. I'd like to know and see your yard when you are done. I'm an avid outdoor gardener and love to create. If you can send a picture or put it on your spark page I'd sure look at it. Thanks and take care. emoticon

I've been on SP for approximately 45 days and will see if journaling will keep me going. I had an active day today. Dropped DD at her dance camp and went to the gym. I did my weight circuit and rode a stationary bike for 55 minutes while I watched John Stewart and Steven Colbert. Having them on keeps me going. After the gym I went shopping for DD's birthday present. She turns 15 on Sunday. I then went to my Asian market for fruit and veggies. It is fun shopping there because they have so much variety. I then went to Home Depot to pick up mulch for my new garden. I am going to convert a 20 x20 foot side yard into a combination vegetable, flower, and meditation garden. I plan to do the work myself. It is now after dinner, my calorie intake was on the lower side for my allowance and I have drunk 10 glasses of water. I am currently baking brownies to take to a crab feast tomorrow. Tomorrow will be tricky but it may just be my day off for the week. Seeing family and having fun is important too.
